Who is your rep there? Last time I went there, the gave me the run around. I haven't been back since. Willing to give them another try since they are owned by penski now.

Did mine today. It took<10 minutes. As has been noted here on the forum, it appears that this recall really hasn't hit the U.S. yet. As such, I suggest you do what I did if you plan to get ahead of it/get it done now. Schedule it, and order the parts yourself from the parts dept. They agreed that had I not thought to check on the little heat blankets, then order them, the parts would not have been on hand when I brought it in; they don't keep these things in stock...yet. They told me I was the second one that they had done...on customer request. (I'm thinking the real story might be that I'm the first...) They haven't been doing them as part of a U.S. recall yet.

That is all.

My car was at BMW of Austin last week; my service guy mentioned the recall, but then said the campaign hadn't officially started yet. Hope I don't have a leak!

Just pull the engine cover and look! The lines are right there. Mine were dry as a bone.

All done as of this morning. Quick job and the work looks exactly like the image in the recall PDF.

owned my m5 for more than a year now... no problems with my lines. its completely dry...

I guess I will do the fix next time I go in for service... no point taking the car in just to do a small job like this.

Got this done today. One dealership refused to do it and the other did it with no questions asked.

Mine has an original build date of 8/2012. I looked at my lines last week. They were dry as a bone as well.

My shop said they don't recommend doing downpipes until my issue is resolved. Grrrr.

FWIW, mine is an 8/12 build...

Yeah it's just a safety precaution on their end. Really the downpipes and coolant lines have nothing to do with each other.

Hey!

Hope it's okay to use this thread again, I have changed these coolant lines by myself. I need to know how much coolant I will pour afterwards when I changed them, I also need to know if i need to "bleed" the system after these?

Thanks for help!

Depends how much you loose - if you are quick ~1 litre. You will have to do the bleed routine and top as you go.

Fill the resevior up until you see fluid, leave the cap off and start the car run for ~5mins, top-up and refit the cap. Drive for ~10-15mins at moderate speed, leave to cool for an hour and carefully remove cap SLOWlY - stop turning the cap if any hissing, leave for a minute then turn slow agian- repeat until cap off safely, top up. You should be good to go.

Check and repeat after a couple of hundered miles or if the low coolant warning comes on.

It's not a RECALL it's a TSB. BMW is not obligated to fix unless you are under factory or CPO warranty.

So I have a bit of a different issue. About 40k miles/2 years 7 months ago, the dealership fitted these wraps to my coolant lines.

Fast forward to today, and now I have a leak at the lines. My car is under CPO warranty, yet they are saying there is a rubber piece in there that is a "wear/tear" item therefore they will not cover it...

Any ideas guys?
