Is BMW Going Ugly Again?

Here's the latest render of the new 7. BMWBlog claims its a very good render.

If the next M5 looks anything like this, then Carbon Fiber or not, there will be no M5 in my garage.

I'm sure the render is off, probably even way off.

Here's a few pictures of what they thought the BMW F10 5-Series would look like even before it was unveiled. Also one of these images is a BMWBlog render.

You can see how really far off some of the renders are.

I am betting that the new G11 7-Series is actually going to look pretty good. I am hoping that with the new reduction in weight and less of a focus on cluttered technology in the cabin that the 7-Series will harken to the E38 generation that made me fall in love with BMW's in the first place.

Also with the news: http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1065152 that the next 6-Series is going to get drastically lighter and will even feature a size reduction compared to the current F12/13/06 generation, this is makes things look very promising for the next 5-Series as well. I will be jumping up and down giving air high fives to myself if the next 5-Series is smaller than the current F10, not to mention 500lbs less!

It's just a render of a prototype. We'll just wait-and-see when the final version of the G11 7 series arrives (my criteria and basis will be the M-sport version of it)

Speaking of which? When will it arrive?

Not sure if you all remember when we were driving e39's and e60 renders started coming out. People hated it. I am sure whatever the new direction of the company is it will grow on most of you.

E60 was a damn ugly vehicle. I took a hiatus from BMW during the Bangle years.

Agreed - inside & out, I still bought one though.

Received the 'Dame Edna Everidge' comments and all!

When spotting one today, however, IMO the exterior styling no longer looks all that bad, where as the F10 exterior is somewhat unadventurous in comparison. At least the F10 interior is a return to previous form. The E60 interior was truly hideous for a 5 series.

I felt the complete opposite. I loved the E60 inside and out for its time. I also saw a bone stock E60 M5 in the wild the other day and it looked very good.

When I look at the F10 though, especially the interior, I feel like it's such a more modern car than the E60 M5.

I don't think it looks bad at all for a land barge... And that's what the 7 series is. Almost looks like a half-morphed S7. I agree that I've never seen a rendering that actually looked like the actual production vehicle. Hopefully, this isn't the route to the new M5. As far as Bangle, I actually like his designs, especially the E92 M. I guess I'm I member of the great unwashed.

S class wins this category. The new photos of the camo'd car have not impressed me at all.

+1 Slightly bias as I currently own an E60 M5 but the sound of the V10 puts a stock F10 to shame. The F10 is still the better car regardless but I do love the sound of the V10.

Agree, the rear was hideous! It was the worse design IMO.

It will turn out good. I actually love the current 7 series with the m sport pack but it didn't really feel s class or even the new a8 class plush inside ( it could have just been a options thing but I suspect its just getting old compared to the others ). And yes the e60 5 series has started looking a lot better to me out of nowhere and then as a coincidence I read this article.. http://jalopnik.com/we-were-all-wron...het-1664079107
