If you're talking about the vibrant dark blue one, that's San Marino Blue, like jmh answered.

It's not about weight. The M6GC is built on the 7er platform, and it feels like it.

Yep...7 series platform. And that extra size - while handled brilliantly by M GmbH - is still too big for a performance car. Yes, it moves but it is too big.

The M5 is built on the same platform as well. For such a heavy car, the M6GC handled track duty well. Didn't expect a 1M and wasn't disappointed.

No, the M5 is built on the 5 series chassis.

Richard, you didn't notice a dramatic difference between these two cars at COTA?

So is the M6 GC. Wheelbases are identical. Suspension designs are identical. Just the front and rear overhang dimensions -- and overall length -- are slightly longer on the GC, etc.

In my opinion, the M6GC handled better on track, with a tighter feel and lower Cg.

But the 5 is based off the 7 chassis as well.

This is not what Albert Biermann, head of ///M development, told us at COTA.

Perhaps I misunderstood him.

The suspension changes certainly make the car feel much softer and bigger. I was shocked actually. I was expecting a track experience more like the M6, which is a bit tighter and more focused than the M5. Instead the GC felt loose and mushy. I don't think BMW should have put the GC head to head with the M5 on track. There was a clear winner.

Of course this is all a bit moot, as neither are really suited for the track on a regular basis.

Interesting. I had the exact opposite feeling, the M6GC feeling the most tight.
I do not recall the exact suspension settings but both cars were M1 and MDMA mode.
