Help Calculating Diminution of Value

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Does anyone have any idea about (or a good recomendation for someone to help me with calculating this) the diminution of value of having paint work done on my 2013 BMW M5 on the right front quarter panel after BMW NA scratched it up after European Delivery?

My guess zero as I'm sure the work will be indistinguishable.

Why are you sure about this? This has not been my experience when trading in cars in the past.

Wasn't it taken care of at the VPC? This happens a lot and the fixed cars sell as new with not issues. It happens to ED and regular cars.

If VPC fixed it no worries. If it was done by a private paint shop I dont know what that would do if anything.

I think you are good.

Honestly dude, you should get something that is not going to constantly give you reason to gripe.

You may want to google the VDC, and see their full capabilities on repair. If I recall correctly, any repairs that's considered less than 3% the VDC can repair without telliing you. Had they never said anything you would have never known. Also they know during the ED process some owners damage their cars and they're repaired at the VDC no cost to the owners. Not piling on, but it's just a car. My bumber was repaired, and my car was spotless when I dropped it off, and I said thanks for telling me as long as I can't tell so be it. Now if there was body damage I can see the grip, but you will love the car when you get ....enjoy! Any can we please drop the saying it cost 100k, and for the guy who spends 30k will feel the same.

I would have assumed in situations such as these that BMW would just fix the scratches and not tell you. The fact that they sent you a photo of the damage and let you know its going to be repaired is pretty decent IMO. Now you know to look at that area when you inspect the car & make sure it looks right. If it looks right I personally wouldn't worry about it.

If it's a good job, it won't affect value. If they have it under a claim and it gets on your carfax, that's a different issue.

I think people are able to tell when a panel has been painted, even if by the VPC. Has to be some impact don't you think?
