Turn Down For What!

Bacon and I made a music video today.

We also drove the entire Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway. 8 hours of driving! Only because the speed limit was SO slow. Now I know what Jeremy Clarkson was talking about. Lol!

Hey Dave,

I think I saw those two lambos on 66 going eastbound around 7:45pm - what a coincidence. Were you with that pack?

Yup! I was. Lol! It was a nice couple driving them. Some old guy driving the Spyder and a nice lady driving the Coupe. The Lady told me she loved my car too. They couldn't believe how far I had driven this weekend. I did a total of 14 hours of driving the M5 this weekend.

Well let's just say I did do some spirited driving. The thing is that, the speed limit is either 45mph or 35mph along the entire road. It is truly on of the best roads I have ever seen. One good thing is that there are no VA State Troopers on it, but it is patrolled by Federal Park Rangers. So getting is speeding ticket there is considered a federal offense, but I'll still take that over having to deal with the Virginia police and judicial system. The Park Rangers only use K and Ka Radar and either drive white SUV's or white Ford Crown Vic's, which makes them easy to spot too. They don't use VG2 systems or Stalkers either, nor any laser systems. The biggest problem is that the entire road is mostly blind corners, so you never know what's behind the next turn, however I will say that a good radar detector will detect their radar from behind the turn, giving you a couple seconds to slow down in time.

However, now that I've driven the whole road, I really do understand why the speed limit is so low and I agree that it needs to be. There are miles and miles of turns with no guard rails whatsoever. It can be quite dangerous for someone in a regular non high performance car or with little driving skill.

One of my friends told me about that song, so I watched that video before I saw yours. Watching that one first actually makes your video even funnier. Well done young man...

RPiM5,

I knew right away that was you on skyline Sunday! Only seen your YouTube videos and easily recognized that beautifully colored M5. Good job with the color, it's cooler looking in person with that sunny blue sky we had Sunday. I was up stretching my new GTI's legs just a little. Did a hole lot going down 211 towards DC. The curves on 211 just off skyline are insane. They even have signs warning motorcycles of the high risk of crashes. Check it out, the GTI was amazing, even the old wife was thinking about running 211 again! Take it easy!!
