What's a Feature You Wish You Had on Your M, That Didn't Make it to the F10
I know this has been discussed before but the thread is buried deep and I can't find it. I was driving and really really wish I had just one feature of the DCT:
Push back both paddles together and the car will go into Neutral, like many super cars. Or push both paddles together and the car goes back into auto mode/drive, instead of manual - iDrive configuration option for both? Anybody else think of something that's not currently available on our platform?? |

Not a wish of mine but some friends asked this (seriously):
A camera that would come on and film a police officer if I was to get pulled. I told them "no" and couldn't understand why that would even be a consideration. They go "but it's an M5". On another topic: Maybe it's how I optioned my M5 but I don't have a compass (used to have the cardinal direction visible on the rear view mirror on my M3). Any thoughts there?

Yeah given the technology and ideas present in 2009-2011 when the F10 M5 was developed there really isn't too much that could have been incorporated.
Back when it was under development, there were rumors about how the new M5 was going to use KERS and Active Aerodynamics. For the other smaller things. Yeah maybe doesn't make any sense that the M5 doesn't get a digital compass in the rear view like a 328i does. Other things like ceramics control knobs would've been nice though. Others wished for AWD or more horsepower. There's really nothing more that I wished a 2015 M5 could have. The 30 Year M5 is pretty much the best car on the planet right now. New technology like more carbon fiber isn't quite ready for a true Sports Sedan yet. It's getting there though, the new 2016 CTS-V has an optional carbon fiber hood for example. But if I'm being truly truly honest the only thing I could have wished for, for the F10 M5 was a high revving naturally aspirated V12 engine like the one used in the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. 725hp? Yeah I'd take that over 502 low end torque. I think an exotic V12 would have increased the M5's popularity 10 fold if one had been used, but you know stupid CAFE and all.

If they put a V12 in this car....it would be unreal, but the direction BMW is headed now, doesn't see much light in that and if they did somehow mass produce the high-end M's with V12s and managed to keep it in the current price range, they would sell like hotcakes no doubt. |

my M5
I would love a button that would say LC ( launch control ) I don't like how it is designed right now. I have not used it once yet, but I probably would if I would have a designated button just for that.
Other than that I love the car, just the way it is. I LOVE THE FAT SEATS IN IT ! I hate that cheap ( so called sport seats ) feel that gives you impression of a sports car, where it is clearly the executive cruiser with a serious punch of sportiness. ( just me ) Thank You |

automatic bolster hugging seats that squeezed you in tight turns that the previous M5's had, and my 2006 CLS55. wtf.

I just took in my M for service and got a 328i for a loaner.
Really pisses me off how the 3 has the compass in the rear view mirror! That's so useful, especially for places you go that you're not too familiar with. 100% agree with you guys on this one. |

The Recaro seats are not "cheap". It'd be nice to have an option for those of us that like it.

That would be nice, depending on price point. I'd much rather that than the $5400 I was quoted to install the 9500ci with ALP jammers, locally. But, if CCB costs $9k you're cloaking system will cost $30K+!
I came from an E92 M, so I'm impressed with the stuff this car has. There really hasn't been any paradigm shifts in 3 years, so I like everything about it. Of course, that's also a function of owning my car for less than 4 weeks. I agree with RPiM5 in that I wish there was one last bastion of naturally aspirated cars. Those days are gone, but I'm not ready to say the future is inferior as we have lighter and faster cars coming out now. I'm hopeful. With respect to others who miss the compass, really? So, how did you use it? Ok, I'm going northwest now, lol. The new iDrive is yards better than the old one. Who needs a compass in this car? Hit the Nav button and you know where North is from the map position, then hence your direction. Or, since you own an uber performance luxury car, you can actually use the navigation system and not worry whether you're upside down. This is coming from a guy who made his living using a compass to navigate, way back when. If I had GPS then, I would have used it. |

Carbon fiber roof! I don't know why they didn't offer it for this generation after the e92 m3 got one. It was wishful thinking, but would have been nice to have it for performance and aesthetics. Don't really care for my sunroof and I bet over 75% of m5 owners would have loved it. I hope they have it for the next generation. They should also offer a sport exhaust option at a reasonable price if their going to continue down this path of performance accessories. It's ludicrous to offer an exhaust worth almost 1/10th of the base msrp lol. It's flat out retarded. I think it would also be cool to have a few color choices for the break calipers.

Love this one. I'm sure the next gen will have 360 degree surround view, that is, pretty much what we have now with the addition of a front camera to complete the full view. How awesome would it be if we could just go around and around in the idrive display of the entire car kind of like Google Maps does now on street view.

+2.
Front camera would be nice. Both the E63 and Panamera have them to complete surround view. My car has many cameras including side view but what I really want to see is curb so I don't scratch the bottom of my bumper. |
