Love It Most & and Hate It Most thing about F10 M5?
I am asking because after almost half a year of driving this car and the thing that I found I love most about this car is actually not the engine now as most people may say which is second best but the brilliant DCT! It surprises me everytime I drive the car sequentially or using the Paddle Shifters!! It shifts before my brain is ready for next gear or even chassis is ready for the next beating rather than gear -
I hate the most about it!! Well that is a hard one and NO it is not that Navigation was flickering and had to have it replaced by the dealership when the car has just 7k miles on it (I forgive you BMW and I am willing to take a lot more than this before I am an upset M5 owner - Well I hate that for the first time in my life after at least 20+ cars I feel that I AM NOT IN TOTAL CONTROL BUT RATHER THE CAR AND I FEEL IMPRISONED AND CAN'T HELP TRYING TO SUBDUE IT AND TAME IT over and over TO NO AVAIL!! - SERIOUSLY! ! Anybidy feels the same?!! This car belongs to the Autobahn period and if in the US then tracks and it shouldn't be a DD as it is a Super Wolverine car disguised in the sheep's clothing! And I know why - It is because way before the Power Surge is done or you get to hit the car Torque or HP ceiling like when on 4th or 5th gear way above 100 or already hitting limiter when car is not pushing that hard any more then probably it is probably less fun and just a matter of trying to achieve higher number but no more Bull PULL or Ecstatic Surge! But to hit it really hard on the highway and way before you hit 3 digits you have to Take Your Foot off the Gas Pedal!! GooseFraPpaa (Anger Management like) What a disappointment and I would liken it to And Excuse my French like trying to stop your Org***!! Very similar indeed!! I need to take it to the track ASAP!!

I love the sound, the suspension, the acceleration, the handling despite the weight.
I do think the car should be AWD for sure and the throttle needs to be less sensitive. I just purchased a 2014 911 Turbo S and I don't care what anyone says, when you plant your foot on a 560 hp and it has AWD it grabs the road like nothing else. I do enjoy the wiggly nature of the M5, its fun time to time but not optimal. The P Car throttle and transmission are also fascinating, the M5 DCT is awesome but feels more programmed and linear vs the 911 knows what to do, the tranny is never always the same..it knows when you're cruising and when youre driving it hard and changes accordingly. its fascinating... Likes: transmission, interior, handling, super fast, aftermarket exhaust sound, among one of the badest rides out there. I look too damn good driving it. Lol
Dislikes: weight, long azz front nose, no spare tire, can't crack the ecu properly. Thumbs down on that one. |

If I had to keep the M5 stock, I would have traded it for the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R already.

It seems you have more experience with P more than me sir so I have to give you that one And hope BMW is reading your post - Some experienced Car Reviewer Called This M5 DCT "The best PDK that Porsche never made" - Speaking Of DCT vs PDK: Wikipedia:This type of transmission was invented by Frenchman Adolphe Kégresse just before World War II but he never developed a working model. The first development of the Twin Clutch or Dual-clutch transmission started in the early part of 1980 under the guidance of Harry Webster at Automotive Products (AP), Leamington Spa with prototypes built into the Ford Fiesta Mk1, Ford Ranger & Peugeot 205. Initially, the control systems were based on purely analogue/discrete digital circuitry with patents filed in July 1981. All of these early AP Twin Clutch installations featured a single dry clutch & multi-plate wet clutch. Following discussions with VW/Porsche, DCT work continued from Porsche in-house development, for Audi and Porsche racing cars later in the 1980s, when computers to control the transmission became compact enough: the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (English: dual-clutch gearbox) (PDK)used in the Porsche 956 and 962 Le Mans race cars from 1983,and the Audi Sport Quattro S1 rally car. A dual-clutch transmission eliminates the torque converter as used in conventional epicyclic-geared automatic transmissions. Instead, dual-clutch transmissions that are currently on the market primarily use two oil-bathed wet multi-plate clutches, similar to the clutches used in most motorcycles, though dry clutch versions are also available. The first series production road car to be fitted with a DCT was the 2003 Volkswagen Golf Mk4 R32. Last edited by soooma; 05-04-2014 at 09:42 PM.. |

The only thing I seriously don't like abt this car is when driven in auto mode and trying to move off slowly. This type of driving is very common for me here due to slow traffic city condition. My throttle is always in Sport Plus mode. When trying to move off slowly, u give an inch or two of throttle and nothing happens. U panic and give it a little more and the car suddenly lurches. The DCT in my prev M3 does not have this issue. Recent software updates have not addressed this...
