I'm new to this forum, so not sure if people introduce themselves. I'm a long time owner of an e39(15 yrs):
And an owner of an e46(8 yrs): I recently picked up a 2013 f10 seller's pics: The only pic I've taken: My e39 and e46 are heavily modified, so I told myself I'd leave this one alone. I'm already thinking the exhaust is way too quiet. So, we'll see how long that lasts. Look forward to learning things about this one from the veterans here. Thanks! |

Still,congrats on the M5 I'm sure you'll have fun on the forum and you chose a good year for your model. I suggest the first thing is to replace the four chrome pipe tubes for some wider ones and then fit an exhaustmeister for a rortier sound. |

Congratulations and welcome!!
Can't wait to see whatcha do with the car. As for exhaust, there is some $#### kits out there but I was very happy with a muffler delete (also catless downpipes helped with the sound). Enjoy! |

Welcome. Fellow long term e39 M5 owner here as well. I've had my F10 for a little over 2 years now. Love it as a daily. The newer tech alone makes it worth it. The e39 is still the GOAT and in the summer I drive that as much as I can.
Good luck with the new car! |

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. Technician117 I remember seeing your posts on M5Board when I was active there back in the day when I was doing a lot of work on the e39. First oil change 2 days ago:

3 month ownership update (in approximate order);
Oil change(not an oil thread please) Exhaust valves wired open New MAFS and air filters Changed rear diff fluid Updated grills(car came with all black, I'm older and like chrome. Sorry) Installed AMS catted downpipes The AMS post cat O2 sensor bung is located further downstream than the stock location so the wires will not reach. A few emails to AMS indicated I needed to release or "untether" the O2 sensor wire to gain some slack. Unable to figure out what they were talking about, I spliced some sensors together to make the wires longer. Spacers on all 4 corners (getting a steering wheel shimmy at 80 so I need to revisit this) Was behind this gentleman coming home from work. Honest. Truly, loud and not fast. Stage One tune from Mike at BPMSport Easter weekend at the beach. Bocce ball with my 85yo dad and 15 and 17yo sons. Recently got the tune. Car is pretty fast, need some more seat time for adaptation etc. I was considering aftermarket mufflers but am glad I got the catted downpipes considering the mufflers would probably provide minimal hp, while the downpipes probably freed up some hp and provided a little growl as well. Cheers and thanks for looking. |
