Finally ordered my M5

A while ago I had a post in "M5 versus" sub forum where I was deciding between the new X5M, M5, or RS6 to replace my current X5M.

Personally I wanted the RS6 but my wife dislikes Audi, saying it looks like a boy racer, so I have my eyes set on the M5 for a while but because it's a big financial commitment (it is close to 300k USD in Taiwan) so I sort of put it off for a little bit.

Some friends suggested I wait for the new M5, but I am in the auto industry, and I would not buy first year car from my experience in the industry, and therefore if I were to wait, that's at least 2+ years away.

So today I bite the bullet and paid the 90K USD deposit (non-refundable, so there's no backing out) to order the F10.

The sales told me it will be a Feb. production car and should arrive to Taiwan around April or May.

The list:

Frozen Bronze
Full individual platinum interior with piano black
CP with black 343M
M driver's package
B&O
Active seat
M Ceramic Brake
Driver assistance

Cheers.

I waited 4 months for my E70 X5M.

I don't understand why it has to take so long either.

I can't really complain since Singaporean have pay half mil for M5 in Singapore.

Believe me I would rather live in the States and just lease the car.

I wanted an S8, test drove it and felt "big." Then I wanted an RS7, and the Audi Manhattan dealers were complete doucheabags so Ive now sworn off Audi forever. BMW is where its at.

Great choice, Frozen bronze is beautiful in person. Saw it at the M Studio in Munich a few days ago. I'm working on a post detailing my visit to the M studio and upload some pics to get your anticipation building. :-)

What the M driver's package? And April delivery seems right for that Individual build. Took about 6 months for mine.

M driver's package just means they raise the speed limiter to 305km.

Looking forward to the M studio report!

Wish we had it here in US. To see the beast restricted to 155 mph is a sad feeling when you know it can go much much faster then that...

Yeah, car prices in South East Asian countries are just crazy, which is why super expensive watches are very popular there.

My Singaporean friend basically said this, a M5 cost at least 500k in Singapore, but you know it's a car in which you can get it in the US for 100k.

However, a Greubel Forsey GMT in Singapore is listed at 600k, but similarly priced in the US, so from a value point of view (if you can call it that), wouldn't it be smarter to buy the watch instead of the car?

And Hour Glass of Singapore told me SEA are the biggest market for some of the most expensive watches in the world.

I recall last year M6 horse edition (2014 Chinese Horoscope) was sold 500k USD in China... probably 100% tax, 100% custom and 50% markup
It's a good business for Asian governments

That is a very nice spec!. If you were to buy a M5 in a country like Bangladesh you would be dealing with 804% import tax. Which is why it is non existent. That is a big commitment, a 90k deposit, my M5 cost me $97k. In Taiwan is it common for cars to depreciate significantly?

Yes it depreciates a lot. 2013-2014 M5 in Taiwan go for about 100k USD, so it loses half of the value very quickly. Mine is pretty much full option but even though it is 300k, people don't pay for options when it comes to second hand, so I will lose even more than the average standard M5.

This is why I won't be buying another car in Taiwan for a while because the financial hit is too great.

By the way, for contrast stitching that BMW Germany said they can do for me, BMW Taiwan came back with the price of 10k USD for the dashboard contrast stitching, I thought it was crazy so I turn it down, but then today they said they can do it for 2800 USD.

BMW Taiwan is so shady, it's almost like they price it according to what they think people will pay.

Taiwan taxes adds about 40% to the car compare to US prices, so no way it should double the price of US, it just meant both BMW Germany and BMW Taiwan is making a killing, it's no wonder the exclusive BMW distributor in Taiwan is a billionaire.
