What is my '13 modded M5 worth?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey guys,

Just a post to get a general idea. I haven't even thought about selling my M5 for over a couple years now (practically a miracle for me as i usually trade cars out every 6 months or so lol) but lately i've been thinking about getting something else to mod. Just looking for a general idea of what she might be worth.

2013 M5, Monte Carlo Blue with black interior. Doesn't have B&O or night vision but has everything else i think. 29k miles, zero accidents or issues, clear and clean title of course, still under BMW warranty and maintenance, blah blah blah.

21" HRE P101
KW Variant 3 suspension with EDC delete
Akrapovic exhaust
Gruppe M intakes
AMS catted downpipes
Full BMW Motorsport carbon fiber interior
BMW Motorsport rear deck lip spoiler
3D Design carbon fiber rear diffuser
RKP carbon fiber front splitters
BMS tuning
lots more little things like black kidney grills, ind painted side markers and door handles, etc.

Car is mint. Windshield cracked about a month ago (zero clue why because there's not even a rock chip in it ) but just waiting for dealer appointment.

I know what kbb says and i have seen cars on the various sale sites, but i'm wondering how much i might get given the level and quality of the mods.

Thanks!!!

As you know mods do not add any value and our 2013s are selling for $55-$62k. I would put yours on the higher side.

With that said, I have similar quality mods, slightly higher mileage and listed my car at $65k. Zero interests yet on the forums and I haven't ventured out further. My theory is that our cars "as-is" with the mods would be worth it to the right buyers. My wheels alone are almost $10k with tires. I know if I part out I can get more than I am asking but it's such a hassle.

13M5F10 : I think your car looks amazing. Im surprise you are not getting much interest for the whole car.

I think part of the challenges with your cars are its a 2013 model. not that there is anything wrong with that but the 2014 LCI additions/changes somewhat overshadow the pre-LCI models... at least that how it was when i was looking. BUT that is not to say I will not look at your cars and consider it eventhough its 2013.

If you're not in a rush, stick to your price point. the right buyer will come but it might just take some time.

55k-58k is where I think it would sell. You can snag an average mileage 2013's with a clean carfax for 45k now...so I think 10k more for your low milage and mods makes sense.

$45k where? At auctions these cars are fetching $49-$51k.

Lol, yes I would like to know where as well... I haven't found one listing for less than $48k and that was with 60k miles and not loaded...

This asking price suggests 45k-46k price point all day...clean title two owners with average mileage. I also missed out on one recently that sold for $47k similar miles and was clean. This was a quick autotrader search...which suggests to me that they are available.

I haven't been following the market too closely, but both of these listings/sales suggest mid 40's is a valid market assessment for a 2013 clean title with average miles on the clock!

Seems reasonable. I have been looking for mileage between 30-40k to try to get about a years worth of warranty time just in case. I'd say out of warranty mileage means an automatic additional $4k cost for a solid bumper to bumper extended warranty but heck, I guess with these cars, we (I?) should probably get that post 50k anyway.

Back to the original question, I'd guess that OP should return the performance aspects of the car to stock and sell those parts keeping the visual gear on as that seems like more of a pain to try and part out. I have to imagine he'd get close 6-10k for those parts?

At that point, car would fetch $55k on up? At any rate, good luck getting whatever you can!

I guess it's market driven. Haven't seen any that low in TX. Also this listing has mistakes in it when you pull up that vin and match to the description.

There is a car asking 46k for sale here in classifieds and I think it is CPO, but haven't looked into the details of the listing, just glanced at the post. The biggest thing holding me back from an M5 is the depreciation...they drop like tanks, but at 45-50k they are a steal!

wow, i haven't seen anything in the 45-55 range out here on the west coast...at least not on cars with 4/50 warranty left/no accidents/super mint/etc. Anyway, not to argue...i REALLY appreciate the posts!!!

That car listed on here for 46k has an accident on it hence driving the asking price down. It is CPO though

This thread is depressing. I think I'll just keep mine and build a bigger garage.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! I still can't wrap my head around why these cars depreciate so quickly!

I live in Miami, hence tons of traffic, so between the comfort and wife argument the M5 is an easy sell. Not too flashy, moves at light speed when you want her to, wife/mother etc can take the M5 if need be (DCT).

Porsche 911 Turbo (996T or 997T) --> appreciating or at the very least staying level. Manual, flashy, no tech at all, but AWD beast that is essentially Free to drive minus maintenance.

I know these cars can't be compared as one is a coupe the other is a big sedan, but for the price point I am looking at, these are my two favorites...The M5 being my favorite because the Value at 45k-55k is incredible. The 911T because it's an incredible value as well...gone the day you list it for sale, 0 car payments since Pcars are similar to the gold rush of 1849, oh and it performs fairly well. too.

M5 makes more sense if you look at function, and around 45-50k I don't foresee losing too much money within 3 years of ownership. If it does drop far off from there...I COULD ALWAYS BUILD A BIGGER GARAGE!

Apologies for the off topic rambling...

Ive looked at your post. Ive also looked at the web and done a bit of research this weekend. Accident damaged I could agree, also an M5 with high mileage.

Lower mileage 13 M5s in great condition just dont sell at this price level unless you dont care about the condition and quality of the car. Retail 13s worthy of buying are going closer to the mid to high $50k range and 14s are about $10k higher.

No passionate BMW owner who cares aout his car is going to accept this price point now. Maybe a damaged or desperate seller, but then I dont expect the car to be in great condition either.

I've had over 15 BMWs over my driving career and I can tell you that at some point it becomes a trade off between price, condition and reliability.

Having owned previous generation //M Cars and a 13 M5 before buying my 14 that is in excellent condition, my 5 cents is that the F10 M5 will be missed while the new M5 comes on line and prices will start to be more sticky from here for the next 12 -18 months. The pain is in.

The one that sold for $47k was private owner, no accidents, but did have around 45-50k miles if memory serves me correct. In light of your research, the listing that has been in an accident, and the car I just mentioned...you're right about pristine examples fetching $55 and up range.
