Quick question about mixing tires
I am in the same position as many out there looking to replace by MPSS's. I can get the 295/30zr20's for the rear but I cannot get the 265's for the front.
Would it work to get Pzero's for the front and MPSS's for the rear? Or would it be just be better to do Pzero's all around? -Jeff |

I've heard a few members here with mixed tires. You can do Pzeros all around and sell the pair of MPSS here in the classifieds. I'm sure they'll get snatched up quick.

I'm not a fan of mixing tires primarily because of looks. I think for the street, the difference between Pzero and MPSS won't matter. That said, I wouldn't run mixed tires at the track. If/when I'm faced with the same situation, I'd first look to see if MPSS in 275x35R20 was available, go 305 in the rear and sell the 295s. Or, as I'm about to do, go MPSC2 265 front and 305 rear

I actually can get the 275's and the 305's. There will be no problem with these fitting on my rims? I have the 2014 Competition version. This is my first M5.
I only drive it on the road. I don't ever track it. -Jeff |

Actually, upon second look, I can wait a month and get the 275's and 305's. I could get the 275's and 295's. Would that be a bad combo? I only do street driving.

I have had mixed tires on my car - '15 CP with 343 rims - and that worked out fine both off and on the track.
When new my car came with Pirelli's and at some point in time one of my rears went flat. It is my daily driver, so needed new rears quickly. They only had rear Michelin's on hand so I had both rears replaced with the Michelin's. Have had 4 track days since and now my fronts are completely worn and had them replaced with Michelin's, so I'm finally where I want to be (all Michelin PSS). If it is your daily driver you might have to go mixed due to the limited availability of both brands. I now have extra tires in reserve. |

The mixed tires are not recommended on the same axle. Furthermore the mixed tire are not recommended on different axle too (ie front /rear) since they usually have different compound, traction, temperature rating and tread shapes. For example Pzero has 220 treadwear vs MPSS which has 300 treadwear means Pzero is softer and you can see the effect on cornering as well as steering wheel, but for normal street driving there is no issue unless rainy days you must be a bit careful... My personal experience with 265 MPSS on front and 305 Nitro NT05 on rear is not as good as my previous setup (265 front 305 rear both MPSS).
