Just installed my 305's!

To all those with 305/30/20 MPSS, I honestly doubted you guys saying how it DRASTICALLY improved traction. But now I truly am a believer!

Can't be happier now with take-offs; absolutely no slipping/skidding with these on.

Can't complain about the aesthetics too. I love the meatier look in the back

If you want to be more happy, set the tire pressure to 30-32 psi
BTW, where did you get tires? I couldn't find any since was in back order and that's why I got Nitto NT05 instead ...

Ok I'll try that PSI... right now I'm at 40.

I got them used here in the classifieds. Got lucky

Dude,

Your like the tire guru and your not aware of Vredesteins Ultrac Vortis ? I use them on my 21" Vorsteiner FF 103s and they feel even better than the PSSs and much quieter! They may be a bit softer but these cars rip up wheels easily anyway. I will use them from now on. They are a big time secret in the performance tire world. The guys at Autocouture hooked me up and convinced me to try them.

Anyway, just figured you should know as well as everyone else reading this that a very good alternative from Michelin is definitely the Vredesteins.

Btw, why did you pick the NT05 over the P Zeros?

Are you running NT05's in the front as well?

Will that tire size fit the 343 OEM wheels?

NT05 has softer compound compare to P zero so has better traction.... and is much more beautiful

Yeah you can fit them but it's not recommended per mfg's specs. Minimum width needed for a 305 is 10.5".

Looks great. What suspension are you using? Do you have spacers on? Or is that just the offset from the rims?

I also wanted to install 305s on mine but in Germany it is not allowed without the manufacturers consent. Does anyone have any documents from BMW that 305s can be installed on the standard rim or at least on the M6 rim?

Thanks
Dan

M6 rear rim is 10.5" wide and MPSS 305/30/20 needs 10.5"-11.5" width recommended by manufacturer.

Check the specs here:

My specs are 20x9 +18 and 20x11 +31. Glad to say no rubbing

Depends on the offsets you might expect some rubbing issue (hopefully you won't). I have heard people with OEM 343M M5 rims (33 mm offset) and 295 tires have installed 15 mm spacer with no issue. I have also heard people with 343M M6 rims (19 mm offset) and 305 tires on M5 have no issue. This means you have about 20 mm room on rear wheels (compare to OEM wheels) to stand out. If you are installing 315 mm tire means you already have used 10 mm of that gap so if your rim's offset is anything more than 25 mm then you should be safe unless your rims fill the gap at suspension side... let's see what you will have. Please let us know...

I have no idea, but I don't think there is any document from BMW to prevent using this tire either! I believe all you have to do, is to show them tire's spec sheet and manufacturer recommendation plus the spec of M6 343M rim...
you can find the recent one here:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_1643

With this two document you can prove M6 343M is 10.5" wide and 305/30/20 can be installed on this rim...
