Why my brakes make noise?

All,

I have 2013 M5 with less than 5000miles on it.

I have noticed that when car is making slow stop between 15-5mph, brakes make noise. Is this normal?

I need yr opinions.

Thanks

For yr reference, my brakes are not ceramics.

The issue with steel pads. Need ceramic pads to reduce noise.

Brake squeal is a high frequency vibration. Suspension geometry and wheel imbalances are sources of introducing vibration as well as the brake components themselves, which makes it harder to diagnose and rectify as related wear and tear to the brake components can mean that the source is not obvious and several items need to be replaced to cure it.

Not sure if BMW has tuned this out of the LCI or the specific CP suspension geometry has cured it (it was present on the pre-LCI demos I drove), but my non-ceramic LCI CP does not have this problem fortunately, as I would find it difficult to live with. It did briefly appear after I left the discs with rust on them for a couple of weeks (took some revs to free the brakes), but disappeared after the discs had been cleaned up through applying the brakes.

You can clean or replace the pads/discs/calipers, etc. to attempt to fix the issue, but it may reoccur if the source is not also fixed.

Mine squeak too, not all the time, but occasionally. Was about to ask the same thing. I know that high performance brakes will squeak until they are warmed up, but mine even do it when warm. Anyone else discuss this issue with the dealer.

My friend's m5 had entire break system changed by dealer, but they were squeaking worse than london double deckers

We picked up a 2013 with a bit of dealer mileage on it for a steal on the 29th. I took the car in the morning of the 31st because the right front was howling under low speed/parking lot braking. I expected them to just spread some anti squeal on the pads and be done with it.

Four hours later I get a phone call that they are ordering new pads for all four corners due to significant micro cracking on all four corners and that I will be without the car for three days while they wait for parts to arrive.

Ouch.

You pretty much need to wear ear protection if you're anywhere near my car when I'm coming to a stop. It totally sucks.
