Individual Leather/Amaro Brown Question

I just want to confirm, if you choose an individual interior such as Amaro Brown, are the back of the front seats covered in plastic or leather? I'm a bit confused because I have seen a car with Amaro Brown here and the back of the front seats are black plastic : http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/f10...m5-photos.html. But then on this thread with other individual interiors, that is not the case : http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthr...=587448&page=2

You have to pay a bit more, it is up to you, Individual means anything you want.

I don't understand.

There is only 1 individual leather cost in the bmwusa website. It's $5000 extended vs $3500 full for regular leather.

My question is, if you go with the $5000 option and get extended amaro brown, are the front seats covered in leather or their back is plastic?

And if they are not fully covered in leather, is there an option to go full leather in individual and how much is that?

Individual leather is not the same as the extended/full (standard) leather.
The backside of the front seats, lower and upper portion of the doors and dashboard are not covered with leather when choosing an Individual color.

Your dealer just needs to call the BMW NA sales order desk , they need to approve the individual order .

The option code for full/extended individual leather is Z1XX , cost is ~1800$ on top of the cost for Individual leather

Your first link points to avlnch's car. His interior is a custom individual order which absolutely has no plastic. He has full leather and chose to have certain parts covered by black leather as opposed to Amaro Brown.

Take a look at this thread: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=682026
It contains a very clear chart of what is covered in leather depending on whether you go Extended Merino, Full Merino or Individual Extended Merino.

The Individual Extended Amaro Brown will have Amaro Brown seat backs, but both the upper section of the dash and the door upper-arm trim level are not covered in leather.

As jmh stated ZAP5 will get you Individual Extended Amaro Brown, Z1P5 will get you Full Individual Amaro Brown with black Walknappa leather for the upper dash and door upper-arm pieces. The chart indicates that the upper dash will be Merino, but BMWNA told me it was Walknappa leather. Can someone confirm the latter?

There are actually 4 leather options:

1) Extended Merino Leather = $0 (standard)
2) Full Merino Leather = $3500
3) Extended Individual Merino Leather = $5000 (despite being called extended, this one adds a bit more leather than extended but less than Full. In particular seat backs and lower part of dash are leather with this option. In addition it substitutes some leather instead of leatherette on headrests and door panels. + option of matching headliner)
4) Full Individual Merino Leather = $6825 (same coverage and grade as Full Merino leather but with different colors and option of matching headliner)

The $6825 option has option code Z1XX which means it is special order interior.

This is correct but if you want a leather dash with option #4, there is an additional charge above the $6825. For Amaro brown there is no way to combine a leather dash with Extended Individual Leather. Been communicating with BMW (through David A) on this for the past week. The all in cost for full individual + leather dash is over $9000.

Sort of crazy since option #2 gets you full leather and dash at 35% of the cost of full....

Guys,

I apologize, but I'm a bit confused about this. So I'm looking at the configuration tool and Cashmere Beige is listed as an "Extended Individual Leather" option, correct? It costs an extra $1500 on top of the $3500 full Merino leather, so essentially $5000.

I found this car which has this leather and in description it says "extended", but you can clearly see the back of the front seats are leather. Why is Amaro Brown different? Does the back of the front seat being leather or not depend on the particular individual color option?

You are correct. With extended seat back is leather. See chart posted above.

The back of the seat in the car in this photo os not plastic. It is black leather. This is unusual because the seat back is usually same leather as front. In this case the owner special ordered black leather for the seat back.

No there isn't. I ordered Option 4 on my 2013 and it is indeed Full Leather which includes leather dash.

Your dealer is mistaken.

So then what's the point of paying an additional $1800 on top of $5000 for FULL individual leather? Just the color of the leather will be the individual leather instead of black?

We seem to have confused you. The $1800 has nothing to do with color. The $1800 gets you your dashboard, upper door trim and lower door trim in leather.

@avlnch car has nothing to do with options posted above. His car is a very special Individual car - his seat leather configuration is personally customized and he also has contrast stitching. That is probably a >$10k interior on his car.

The dashboard in the M5 is leather always no? I drove an M5 with regular extended leather and the dashboard was leather.

I picked up a 2014 this fall with Full Individual Nutmeg. The MSRP for this option was $9740.

This is the quote I got for Full Amaro Brown Individual with the leather dash.

Stealth - Your posts are why I asked my dealer about the pricing for the leather dash. In this case, I am working with someone who does a lot of Individual cars and ED and got the quote above straight from BMW Individual. It may be that Individual changed the price for 2014.

No. Look at the chart in this thread. It will show you that for both Extended Merino and Individual Extended Merino the Instrument Panel (upper section) is covered with "Foil grained" which is not leather. To get the top of the dash covered with leather you either need Full Merino or Individual Full Merino.

There is no coverage difference between Full Merino vs Individual Full Merino. You're simply paying more for the "Individual" colors.

This close up shows the standard dash and doors. What you see is Foil Grained Plastic. The leather dash is smooth and has stitching. Also in leather the lower part of the dash is same color as seats.

Ah then forget it. It's way too much money.

This has been extremely useful thread, I really appreciate it. Unlike the M3, M5 doesn't have that much information available online, possibly due to rarity. It's easy to make a mistake with something as straightforward as this.

My interior is code Z1XX, which is individual leather everywhere possible (US Spec).
The back of my front seats are black leather, which is an individual request.
Normally it would be Amaro Brown leather (not plastic).

Individual options and requests are not cheap and the build requires additional lead time, but the end result is worth it.
