Waze is stand-alone and not integrated with detector; I run Waze via blue tooth and the detector (Escort 360) stand-alone. In the case of the escort app (Escort Live) I find that Waze does a much better job and as such don't even run in the background.

The combo of Waze + detector has worked very well for me.

I've been reading on the radar forums, it seems v1 is best for me. I still need to understand the lidar/radar/instant on crap however.

Laser is a direct laser beam. Think invisible laser pointer. It doesnt bleed off so it can't be detected unless you are the target and its pretty much instantaneous so a detector only tells you you've been hit and they know your speed. Jammers make it so they can't get a reading. Instant on radar is just that. Many cops use it to hit a car every few seconds. A good detector can detect that as an increasing pulse each time the cop uses it on a car in front of you. Alternatively, if you're alone on the road and get hit with instant on you have a second or two to slow down before they read you. Taking 5-10 mph off your speed can be the difference between ticket and no ticket. But you gotta react fast. L

thanks. so when you run Waze thru the Bluetooth, what exactly do you mean? how is the set up? is there an audible notification when police is in the area or ...? or do you still need to look at the cell screen to see where the cops are?

You will get an audio alert (voice) through the car speakers via Bluetooth and the phone screen will show exactly where the cop is in relation to your current position. Once your phone's paired with the car just launch the Waze app and ensure you check "sound on".

Hey dude...so what exact options do i need to check off? Sound to phone speaker?
Also...will i get the alerts for cops based on my location to their location? And is this only for when you put in navigation destination or can i get the alerts with waze being simply on without destination entered?
Is it a sound alert or actually says police or something?

I believe it's sound to phone speaker as long as you're connected via Bluetooth to the car. The alerts for cops will be based on their location in relation to yours and is not destination based. Just launch Waze and you'll be good to go. It says "police reported ahead" and will show location on the phone screen.

+1 for the Uniden R3 and Waze. Saving up my pennies to get an ALP system for laser protection by the winter and it'll be an amazing countermeasure system. It's way too easy to go fast in these cars, esp. on TX highways.

No I don't and it doesn't bother me. I use waze but haven't played with the v1 app yet.

Waze + any of the top radars works well. In my case, I forgo running "Escort Live" in lieu of Waze and it works very well.

I've owned a few detectors over the years and the V1 had lots of false alerts since there is no builtin GPS and the max 360 I thought was good until I received a ticket with no alerts(ka) and it never warns on redlight cameras....I am going back to my Escort 9500ix which was the best hands down radar detector I've owned...also had the Beltronics rx65 and Passport Max

...or maybe switch to the new escort IX? will be running the 9500ix and max 360 soon side by side to see the difference exactly on detection

Have owned the V1 for a few years and yeah the false signals sometimes suck but you can change it to different modes and how sensitive it is to different signals etc. But in the end it has always given me great results and warms me when police are ahead or behind me and I have never gotten a ticket with it on.
