Obnoxiously Loud Brakes: Need Advice

Hey Guys,

I have a 2013 certified m5 with the maintenance program and appx. 53k miles. After 10 minutes of driving, the brakes begin squeaking very loudly - specifically when brake pedal is about 60-75% engaged.

My tech said that the brakes aren't worn enough to be replaced under maintenance program, so he took them apart, cleaned and lubricated them. This did slightly reduced how loud they squeaked but the noise is still there.

I am wondering what options do I have, if any.

The noise is obnoxious and embarassing enough that I would consider paying out of pocket for new pads. However, I wonder if there are other remedies that you guys may know of.

If there are no remedies, what pads do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Eugene

Try bedding procedure for the brakes-few repeated hard stops from high speed. Seems to reduce squealing, at least temporarily. You may have to repeat periodically.

What year’s your car? I only found these for 13’s. Not sure if LCI brake pads are different than 13’ models.

My Cool Carbons are on the way out due to wear; I’m going to inquire in regards to the Powerstops and see if there’s any difference between 13’ and 15’ applications.

OEM pads nearly killed me, cool carbon better but over heat easily, and not great stopping, carbotech xp12 are incredible, double the stopping power of cool carbon - imo of course

What has worked for me in the past is pressing the left paddle shifter repeatedly instead of the brake pedal.

What would be cheaper to replace? Brakes or your Engine?
