The only reason BMW is creating the sub-M brand is the competition is strong these days. MB and Audi both have their sub performance lines. Currently, BMW is little bit behind the game now, thus my SA told me BMW has changed each model's life cycle to 6 years. Example: there will be new X5 come out next year.

Out of curiosity what sub-brand does AMG have that's not and a true AMG car? Audi has a S, but they don't whore out the "R" desiganator.

e43 amg (it used to be e550) c43 amg (used to be c400) glc 43 amg, etc,.

Not sure I agree they were never AMG cars. BMW has a 550, 650 all non-M cars.

according to MB, the transmission such stuff are tuned by AMG, this is why they call it c43 amg.
Bmw has applied similar logic these days. some parts of the car are tuned by M division, then they call it M performance series. (Like m550 x4m40i m340...)

These silly side badges make no sense at all. But I drove both the m550d and the X5 m50d....awesome machines.
