I actually took the time to read the entire thread, good stuff.
What im looking for is advice, BS aside. Just got my hands on a 2014 Black M6 Comp package, looking for entry level power advice. Thinking tune and downpipes. Would my best option be a stacked tune with the dp's? or just a straight tune with dp's? |

My guess dme will give you stack! That way u wont request for more power. Lol. Stack get give you full power right before you have to upgrade your clutch. Trust me u will always want more power, there is no entree level power. Lol. Ps, jst dnt cross 700whp. Tell Dme 699/680. Lol. |

Your best bang for the buck is a straight tune and Downpipes. I tell this to everybody. You will be around 650-670whp with this setup while keeping the drivability of the car very close to stock. I would only recommend a stack if you intend on doing turbos, clutch (if DCT), axels and meth. The reason for this is because you can flash the car once and use the jb4 to get you the additional power as you add all these components. |

Companies like Dodson and SSP offer clutch packs that can handle 800-1000wtq depending on which one you go with. |

Maybe this is a question best asked of your tuner but how hard was it to integrate the HFS-4 to your JB4 setup? After countless emails, Richard convinced me of the superiority of the HFS-4 over other kits, mostly due to it's safety features and pump/fluid delivery. The reason I ask is because I bought the HFS-4 but then not a week later Terry released a beta JB4 for the S63 powered X5M. I've now got my HFS-4 setup for sale (only one interested bite so far) since Terry has strongly suggested I use his meth setup since the JB4 is beta for the X5M and I don't wanna give Terry ANY roadblocks in his attempts to help as he's my only option at this time for advice. I've never used meth or JB4 so from someone who's clearly succeeding using the two, are the two brands so indifferent from each other that it's going to be a huge headache to keep the Aquamist setup? Your Aquamist system will run but you are relying on its safety systems and not the JB4's - it won't control the boost down if you are pushing boost over 23psi so theres potential for issue.
If you are only running on normal boost levels i.e Map 1 and Map 2 upt to 22psi you won't have a problem as the meth injection is only adding cooling and not relied appon for additional octane and boost levels. |

Richard said that the HFS-4 cuts boost by intercepting the signal to the the wastegates but never made mention of specific boost levels. I've also read that the JB4 only reads pump issue by seeing resistance from the pump via voltage changes, which was stated as being a slow process where lots could happen in between that time.
I can't remember where I'd read it but someone said I run a yellow 0-5v wire from the JB4 into the HFS-4 so the JB4 still has control but I'm still not entirely sure how that means they'll interact. |

Is that a mechanical interuption as the wastegates are vacuum controlled or electronic?
Yes the yellow wire is what the JB4 monitors voltage (0-5v) to workout flow by the load demand on the pump. Once your set up is primmed and working, you scale the JB4 to so 100% 'flow' or load any change up or down means a prossible problem- blackage, leak, lack of fluid etc and will then flick to the safety default i.e remove the additional boost when meth is flowing so either map 1 or map 2 settings. Voltage change can be near spead of light so not sure how much faster you need? The pump will see the change of say running out of fluid before a flow sensors does, a blocked jet its probably level pegging. The HFS-4 measures actual flow - has its own merits just not sure its better? |

A great thread, gents. Why was frozenman banned? He was a good contributor... I hope it wasn't for lack of payment to bimmerpost.
Good info on meth, tunes, and clutches! |
