Cooling fan after shutdown
I've noticed that there's a cooling fan that runs after the car shuts down. My N54-based 335i does the same thing, but usually only on a hot day. With this car ('13 M5) I took a ~8 minute drive from sitting overnight on a 65 degree day and it still ran after I stopped for a few minutes. Is that normal?
I guess there's an electric coolant pump for the turbos after shutoff (like on the 335), so I wonder if on the M5 is runs the fan at the same time? |

ok cool Did a 5 mile spirited drive up and down the freeway last night and was looking under the hood. The intercoolers are basically cool to the touch, and then 20 inches away the two turbos under the plastic cover are ridiculously hot. pretty amazing. |

Yeah same as on my 335i (N54). But in this case, a 5 minute drive will result in about 2-3 minutes of fan. Just wanted to make sure wasn't a thermostat issue. My N54 would only do it if it was like 20 minutes and the ambient temp was mid 90's or higher.
