Even the current E9x M3 is as good as the M5 "competitors" performance-wise

How come this article wasn't front page news? LOL!
I think it was. I remember a lot of people having fun in that thread. At the end, the thread came to a conclusion that whoever wrote the article just wanted his name out there. That is probably the only review I know of where the E63 AMG came on top of the M5.

Now...
Why don't we all be quiet and wait until the M6 Gran Coupe comes out.
I'm pretty sure it will beat one of the p cars, if not all of em.

B-b-but this is not fair. You're pitting a new car to the old CTS-V. Watch old videos of the CTS-V vs. the E60 M5. CTS-V beats the overpriced German car.

(sorry, had to say it before someone did.)

I would take the old E60 over the CTS-V. In fact, I would take the old M5 over just about anything (including the new one).

Yeah but the Merc is so much nicer and better built. Plus in day to day driving the Merc wins! Also note that it's "best time" beat the CTS-V

AutoCar is very well respected.

You know of other comparos, any links? I would like to read them.

I think there's 2-3 other ones out there. If I could find them, will send them your way.

I think the Cadillac did very very well, anyone should be impressed with it. And as others have said, it's an older soon to be outgoing model. I'm almost scared to see what the new one brings to the table LOL.

Agreed. Just trying to point out these 'comparos' are not 100% objective, rather for the purposes of feel-good or entertainment.

One to watch for sure!
M5 can put down alot of power, see how that AWD goes around the track.

The cars are not all released at the same time so you'll have cars being older than others (ex. we have the F10 M5 against the older CTS-V and when the new CTS-V comes out, the M5 will be older).
Life is not fair, right? Thus there will be unfair comparisons.
But you want to consider costs. So which is - fair or unfair? You can't have it both ways. (See the contradiction?)

There's multiple comparisons involving the F10 M5 in the M5 review list @ http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=588616

I think this was a fair comparison. You don't? You don't think comparing cars that are priced around each other and happen to be direct competitors is not fair?

Exactly my point, you can't ask that no more expensive cars are admitted, then conveniently gloss over the questionable favorable factors.
(How about from idle, no launching?
Tires make a difference around the track as well.)

Probably, but by then the facelifted Panamera will be out and will have a power bump to be sure, so maybe not.

I would expect the LCI Panamera Turbo/S to do 0-60 around 3.1-3.3. M6 GC around 3.4-3.6 (Depending on the mag- C&D will probably get 2.7 LOL)

But the Porsche will still be more expensive and so will still not be a real true comparo which is fine- the M6GC will be in a class all on its own.

And it should be.

I think the point it that there is a CONSIDERABLE price difference.

AND....... the Panamera is really a 4 door coupe- so a true comparo would be better served with the Merc CLS 63 and the new M6GC....

But who am I to talk?

Don't mags publish crazy comparo's with stuff like sports cars versus fighter jets????!!!!......

There is a YouTube video of the straight line test comparison subbing the CTSV with a Porsche panamera. I would post link but I'm my phone. It comes up as a related video to the top gear m5 video posted a couple days ago.
