Dynamic and/or Adjustable Side Bolsters
My understanding is that for the U.S. market, BMW is NOT offering DYNAMIC Front Seat Upper Side Bolsters for both the F10 M5 and F12 M6. Is this correct? This seems strange considering that this option was offered on the U.S. version E60 M5 and is currently available on both the Mercedes-Benz E63 Biturbo and CLS 63 Biturbo, etc.
Are DYNAMIC Front Seat Upper Side Bolsters offered in ANY world markets on either the F10 M5 and/or F12 M6? Furthermore, my understanding is that ADJUSTABLE (for width) Front Seat Upper Side Bolsters are offered as standard on the F12 M6 in the U.S., but not even available as an extra-cost option on the F10 M5. These ADJUSTABLE Front Seat Upper Side Bolsters are standard issue on both the E63 Biturbo and CLS 63 Biturbo. What gives? |

The adjustable bolsters are and have been available on a number of BMWs including E9x cars with power sport seats, E9x M3s with power sport seats, e70 X5 with active comfort seats among others. It makes no sense not to AT LEASE have the adjustable bolsters...

And to not at least offer DYNAMIC side bolsters as an extra-cost option (ala the E60 M5), strains credulity! |

I CAN tell you I took delivery yesterday and they are not present. When we brought this up with the engineer we did not get a straight answer, not much of an answer at all. They appear to be included in the number "20 way" seats and also are included in the manual so I wonder if it's simply a supply issue and they will start showing up in subsequent cars or something else entirely.

I'm extremely dissapointed in the lack of the adjustable side bolsters. I'm about average framed and find myself sliding left and right in the seat during hard cornering. This is VERY frustrating. Even my range rover sport had them and held me in place.

It looks like they finally updated the BMW USA website to say 18-way seats... previously it said 20-way.
I just cannot understand why they don't offer this feature on the US & Canadian cars. Also there are like 100 threads about this now. |

For what it is worth, I chatted with the BMW USA M Brand Manager back in December of 2011 about the dynamic seats for I had them in my E60 M5. He stated they would be made available in the F10 M5 one year after intro to the US market, so I took that to mean MY14. I guess we'll have to wait and see if they are offered then.

I've just now received confirmation from a very reliable source at BMWNA, that starting with 07/2013 production, Adjustable AND Dynamic Seat Bolsters will BOTH be available for the U.S.-version F10 M5.

This is complete BS, it should have had it to begin with! A family member has a 2004 S500 that has it and it's a night and day difference. Everyday I find myself extremely uncomfortable during hard cornering as the seat doesn't have enough holding for these kinds of maneuvers.

While I'd like to believe you, it's unlikely that they would make a change like this so quickly after beginning production...probably not something you'll see until MY 2014...

MY 2014 should begin with circa- 07-08/2013 production (which certainly corresponds with the commencement date provided by my highly reliable source at BMWNA regarding the starting time of WHEN Adjustable AND Dynamic seat bolsters will be available on the U.S.-version M5).

Yes pretty crazy not to have it - I really don't get it. Wonder if they will upgrade my seats for free !! LOL.. How hard could it be to replace a seat
Note.... I just went onto BMW Canada's site an configured the 2013 M5 and its showing Lumber Support. See the pic.. not sure what is going on here. Then I also went to the "At A Glance" of the specs of the car. I wonder whether its better to stay mum about it and complain later or just ask them if its included by some miracle chance!
