Collision avoidance
Hi Guys,
im 8 days away from receiving my m5...wait is getting harder and harder. On the pics of the 2013 ive seen the collision avoidance button? What exactly does it do and how does it work. I cant see any radar or active cruise sensor on the m5? Can anyone enlighten my ignorance? Thanks,

I'm not a M5 owner so an iteloper here! but I have a 530d which has the active cruise control and I thought the brake intervention only came with that as it presumably requires that hardware.
The sensor on my car is behind the grill below the bumper. I'm sure others will be able to elaborate on this. |

Hi, the collision avoidance measures the deceleration between your car and the car in front of it. If a collision is imminent, a red car appears on the HUD and the instruments, the steering wheel vibrates. If you still haven't started the breaking maneuvers, a sound alarm (3 beeps) goes on, the brake pedals are pumped with the full oil pressure and the car engages the hardest breaking possible.
It also works on the highway if you drive too fast and a car is on your lane (even if that car is not breaking) you will have it. In my opinion, it works perfectly in the city. And by the way, you can set it to warn you early or late. so you have a kind of 2 sensitivity levels take care |
