When was M5 ED not out of dealer allocation?

Correct me if I'm wrong but there was a small window where the m5 was not coming out of dealer allocation after its release for ED correct? When was this period and did anyone get in on it?
Thanks

I believe it was at the very beginning when the car was first released. I remember reading on another forum about a large group of people who got in on it and all took delivery around the same time.

That's correct. In 2012 when the US spec F10 M5 was launched, there was a pool of ED specific cars that were separate from the individual dealer allocations. That pool was quickly exhausted, and going forward future ED orders came out of each dealer's allocation. There was somewhere between 22 to 24 of us who took delivery at the Welt on September 1st, myself included per my signature. It was a really fun day with such a large group of board members there!

Was it the typical pricing X amount over ED invoice because it did not come out of Dealer Allocation?

When you ordered your car did you know ahead of time that it came out of that pool of non allocated cars or were you told at a later time? hoping the same happens with the new m3/m4.
Thanks

Yes, you negotiate the same as you would a US delivery car, it's just off of lower MSRP & Invoice amounts.

Yes, we knew in advance there was a separate ED pool.

I ordered a 2013 during that time period when they were not coming out of dealer allocation. I think that was around May 2012. It seems most people here were getting the car at that point in time for about $1000-2000 over ED invoice. My deal was within this range. I ordered a 2014 this past July, and was able to get a slightly better deal, even though the cars at that time were coming out of dealer allocation. So in my experience it no longer matters whether or not they are coming out of dealer allocation, you just need to find the right dealer. The M5 isn't that hard to get anymore.

With the improving economy and the larger buyer base for the M3/M4 I would be surprised if they did the no allocation thing when those cars are first available for order. But who knows.

Yes think the ED invoice was $76k USD at the time. (Before any fees)
