Full merino M5 interior does spoil us! Imagine if this thing had a DCT!?!?

Supposedly the A8 transmission is very quick, does not sound like a DCT would have much if anything over it.

First, Ive done lots of time on road Atlanta, can't break 1:30 in my 911,...... But I do know that track pretty well, and saw a few places where he could have been pushing harder. Especially the back straight. Didn't hear any sounds from the tires, seemed like he wasn't even pushing it. You'd think randy would take a new z06 to 10/10ths...

I heard that the automatic transmission overheated on him, and he had to stop after 4 laps. That's why he didn't make any comments after run, and some speculate that the same overheating problem is why we're just seeing manual allocations available.

A stick is the only way to go with this car anyway. Paddles on a vette is bad on so many levels.

The car that overheated had been used the ENTIRE day by several other publications and race car drivers; beat to shit for hours and hours. Randy got it last, at the end of the day, and the car was tired.

What's next on the "Sky is Falling" agenda?

This past Sunday I went on a ride and quite a few c7's were there. A few of them were modded and were extremely fast. I can see where the new Z06 will be a blast to ride

Two things: it is thought that the car that threw a code and had been pulling timing was due to overheating the engine oil, not transmission overheating, and that it was the yellow M7 car, not the white A8 version. No confirmation of this but the story as to which car it was is confusing.

Former Z06 owner not "blown" away...

I have to say I am not overly impressed with the new C7 Z06. I was hugely excited for this car. Saw the launch video live, went to the car show to see it, and spend time on the vette forums.. I was on the list.. bla bla bla...

Anyway, perhaps better reviews will come out showing a better side to this car. But I've had 3 Z06s, 2 of which were C6s, which I feel where aesthetically much better looking from any angle.

I was hoping my distaste for the C7s rear and tacked on bodykit look would be overshadowed by performance but so far they are not blowing me away.
Yes the car is fast and handles. But it's a ton of technology like a GTR that's aiding to achieve the figures. To me that's losing it's original simplicity even though tech is inevitable these days.

The also went soft with the auto if you ask me. It was supposed to be revolutionary as far as autos go. The reviews say 7speed is way better.

The car also doesn't seem much quicker than the previous gen Zr1 thus far.
It's trivial to most, but part of the appeal of the former gen Z06 was getting 29mpg on the highway!! That with what I found to be good looks are gone.
It overheats after a day of abuse at the track. The former heat soaked but kept on going. Say what you want, but when a car goes limp in Randy's hands, that's bad news.
That blower spins way too fast to not make heat, and because of the smaller displacement blower and higher rpm you aren't going to get a ton of power like the Zr1.
Apparently the 7 speed is not in huge demand with only 20% being sticks... Since the first wave of cars are stick, dealers are already marking them down..

The more I hear, and read, the more I want a Gen V Viper TA
I'd also bet that on a rolling race, a BMS M5 will probably give a good run or maybe even pull ahead! Doh! Shots fired! lol

Sorry I don't want to rant like this on the Vette forums or I'll be lynched.

Well TW you sure are making a boatload of assumptions based on a few reviews that came out last week, and the fact that cars are only just now being delivered to owners. I think when the car has been out a while we may be pleasantly surprised that it's not the overheating pig the Internet has led us to believe. One thing though: this is a street car designed to excel on a road course, and to make most other street cars look like crap whilst doing it. The vast majority of street cars, (exception the GT3?) become compromised when driven hard in high ambient temps long enough on a track. And it is NOT designed to provide the owner with the fastest top speed as it's not a drag racer. Too much Aero.

I'll try the Z06 only because he says they've made it easier to drive. I saw one the other day- looked pretty bad ass. Historically, the new corvette styling starts looking dated about 3 months after the launch. Not sure how they're able to do that.

very easy IMO. easy to modulate the throttle, well balanced, tremendous front end grip. You now have stability control also so there's a safety net.

LMR's dyno numbers should be in today. I predict 600+ rwhp on a dynojet. 550+ rwhp on a mustang dyno.

Vengeance Racing is already doing a tune on their Z06.
