Thanks Vic. Just saw. He didn't really talk about the car but great to see it on the track.

Stealth - good point on luggage space. My wife and I travel very light but I havent really looked at the trunk that well. When I am back stateside, I will go check it out.

On a separate note, Mercedes of Mobile has a launch edition with low miles for $135k which is a total bargain IMO.
I would wait. I have a feeling that the values will tank very soon. MSRP on the Launch cars were $144K. Lots of them on Autotrader have been sitting.

Looked like the GTR guy let the GTS get a head start then reeled in and passed.

It's amazing when you consider, GTR is heavier, has AWD powertrain loss, and a smaller engine with fewer cylinders.

As a lighter car with a 4.0 V8 vs a 3.8 V6, and less drivetrain loss, the GTS should walk away from a rolling start. And I bet it would if you tuned it to 600hp.

Don't forget the Nismo has 100 or so more hp than the GTS so it (the hp) does cover the AWD and weight variances rather well

I know, but I'm just saying the GTS engine is tuned very conservatively at 503hp. we all know the same engine will be putting out over 600hp when the next E63 arrives and probably more like 630hp in the E63S.

Yes indeed-- I have a tune on mine and the car is THAT much faster... I impressed that the GTS did what it did with that Nismo.

I have an actual dyno on mine that is almost the same as this but this one is prettier The key here is the gains not at peak but in the sweet spot AMG rpm ranges.

500 HP, 3600 lb RWD car vs 600 HP, 3800 lb AWD even with ~5% more drivetrain loss (AWD) still the result is predictable.
By the way, AMG GTS jumped first because it's lighter and has more torque BUT at higher speed the "power to weight ratio (at wheel)" is the main factor where GTR with less lb per hp (~7.5 vs 8) is the winner.

Just read up on the new Audi R8 V10 Plus (way too long of a name). Love the fact its naturally aspirated and the sounds in the video are quite something. I want to give it a go. Any idea when we get it stateside?

So the M5 should beat the AMG on a roll race. That's based on how the GT-R did? No?

The sound this car creates is music.

Fantastic looking and sounding car! I liked his comment comparing the solidity of the R8 to the delicate Huracan. Still don't really like the split side blade. Overall, a super compelling package. Wonder who'll buy the 200K Acura NSX now..

So stupid and short-sighted of AudiUSA not to allow the option of the magnetorheologic shocks on the Plus version here in the US. It is this adjustability that can make the R8 the best DD 'super car' on the planet.

I agree Bish, as 80% of my cars have the Magneto's!! But, and I say this with hope since I have not driven the new Audi, I think Audi will have the suspension dialed quite well without them. The chassis should assist here along with the overall center of gravity.

I think spring time will be the first deliveries and expect an over 200k price tag with all the adds. Its not in the same segment pricewise as the GTS. I also agree with the reviewer in the vid you posted that it will be more of a durable "feel" to it vs my Huracan. I would have no problem owning both.

In the Generation 1.2 car, the Plus rode pretty well even without the MR shocks Vic, and the new one most probably will as well, especially in those areas of the country, (like the OC I'd bet) that have great roads. It is for those of us with shite roads that the adjustable shocks are so valuable. Time will tell of course.

I did send an email to AudiUSA expressing my 'outrage' over not having the choice of the option though! lol

I have never bought an Audi and no clue which dealership to deal with. I do have a pretty sour taste from the only time I worked with an Audi dealer for an A6 for my parents. Will do some homework and speak to one. The GTS is gorgeous inside out and felt just right. But the R8 is a bit more extreme and the AWD can make it a bit more usable in winter times here in North East.

Decisions decisions!

Audi stores are no different than any other higher line brand dealership. The R8 is arguably the best of the line; hell I still have one but the RS7 was rather good fun too!! That lasted almost a year in my stable and that's like 4 normal years for most

Ill be an owner of the R8 V10 Plus- confidence is high and that 602 hp engine is one of the many reasons. I have it currently and its one of the best out there in performance and sound. It does with an N/A what most other competitors need FI for.

Dealer showed me this beauty today. If I was one of those dudes who trades in his car instead of selling it himself, I would probably have driven this home.

Man that car is hot...(the setup). I just got a offer for a Designo White one with all the bells sans CCB's that is arriving in a few weeks. But I would miss the carbon fiber roof and the rear fixed wing so Ill stand down.

Stealth, if the dealer actually gave you a good offer on your trade I'm sure you would play. Did you ask them? I'm assuming its the F Type R right?
