Spent some time configuring up a 991TTS the way I'd like it - 208k. Maybe in a few years.

BTW - what do you guys think of the Carrara Classic wheels in black? Gives it that look from the 930 turbo days. I can't tell if it has the lip from the ones back in the day though.

I wonder if they are going to come out with a factory aerokit for the 991TT. I like the car but wish the front end had some more "aggression" to it.

Actually Tim I had a pic of one that was sold in Houston that had a kit on it. It was really nice. I think I had deleted it though.

With all of this talk about the TTS I just had to stop by the local Porsche dealer yesterday to check one out. I got instant attention pulling in with my M5. They didn't have the turbo that showed on their website, it hadn't arrived yet. I did sit in a nice Carrera 4S but frankly, I find the interior a bit disappointing. It seemed plain and the seats weren't nearly as comfortable as the M5's. I am definitely spoiled by the luxury feel of my car. The insane performance of the Porsche is really intoxicating but 200K+ sobers me up in a hurry.

I tried the 981 when looking at the M5;

+ve - exceptional rigid structure (can feel this at low speeds & bodes v well for 991 GT3 with roll cage), exceptional handling (mid-engined), great traction (doesn't need the AWD of the 991 IMO), excellent primary ride (doesn't get knocked off course by big bumps), build quality (perception is better than BMW), arguably more fun on twisty roads, residual values (in UK).

-ve - heavy steering for low speed/comfort driving, poor forward visibility from blind spots, lack of torque (obviously 991 TTS will not suffer from that), poor secondary ride (unsettled on all but smoothest road surface), seats are good, but not as good a M seats, too noisy (would be tiresome on long distant drives), fewer dealers + maintenance costs, doesn't blend as well as F10 M5 (hence, for me at least, not as good a choice for DD/work car).

PDK & DCT are probably equal, but without torque in 981 S, M5 feels feels effortless to drive at any speed in comparison.

Overall for my needs at the time it didn't tick enough boxes, but it hasn't stopped me wanting one, but for me would only work as a 2nd car. 991 is same concept as 981, so whether or not it fits our needs as our only car is dependant on a number of factors.

Equivalent Porsche for luxury & comfort would be the Panamera Turbo, but once you've spec'd it the same as an M5 it's a lot more expensive as well as lacking aesthetic appeal in comparison (facelift only slightly better in looks dept). M5 is exceptional value in comparison to Panamera.

Word, for all that money spent you would think you wouldn't have dish out more on a kit. The GT3 will be more aggressive. Ill take one in RED

Same here, the 991 may be faster but I love having all the space and luxury in the M. At 150k+ theres just so many other options. Used 997 turbo Vortsteiner, R8 v10, Gallardo, SLS Amg, GT3.

Definitely something to consider Vic. The one coming here is spec'd pretty much the same but they chose blue leather which is not my choice.

Ive seen the blue in person (yachting blue) as it was on the 991 C2S launch cars; its very subtle and I actually like it. What color is the exterior?

Vic agree hold heartily. I saw those blue seats in a white 4S with a blue top very nice. I do like the GT3 over the TTS by far which has more of an edgy look. I just can't folk over 20k above MSRP just because they think they can do it. I was close, but looking at 20k cash, and just say here you go no way. Times get tough they will call me with a reasonable price. Shit I can't drive the 5 cars I have now(: The M5 is 14 months old with 5500 miles, and the 991S has 2200. I need Vic's hand chillin with a Corona!

Not my style. Like black. The car is white.

Ahh, the 930. Love those. But the fuchs don't look as great on the 991, I'd stick with the stock multispokes or the mesh centerlocks in black.

I hear you man. I found the interior of the 991 to be pretty nice, especially the view out. The materials seem to be a step up. 200k is a lot to spend on a single thing, I probably would never forgive myself haha.

Caymans look so good, I have yet to drive one. Bet it drives good as it looks.

That interior would rock on a dark gray or black exterior. I'm in the minority here, but I like blue interiors.

On a side note, I have an Eisenmann Race on the way. I've had the car for a year, about time I reward it with something. Now time for some DPs to chase those damn Turbos lol

It's worth a drive, especially if applying Vic's logic to a new extreme (why pay more for 991 TTS over TT), half the price over GT3 in UK (before extras at least).

Obviously you miss out on rear steering, AWD (TT/TTS), etc, but now that they've sorted the looks, it's a serious contender to the 991, if the 'poor mans 911' connotations will not bug you. Obviously nowhere near as fast, but that's part of the appeal to me (drive it hard to get the best out of it).

This video may put into context where I'm coming from, although of course you may get your 'a$$ handed' by M5s, etc., but that's not the point of a sports car IMHO

PS try and look past the state of the S4

That Cayman S is supposed to be a VERY fun car to drive. Many people choose it over the 991 even though it's slower just because the balance is so superb.

That Cayman S is supposed to be a VERY fun car to drive. Many people choose it over the 991 even though it's slower just because the balance is so superb.
No no. Take a 987 Spyder or Cayman R. Now THOSE are epic cars (need 80 more HP though).

Or wait for the next gen 981 Cayman GTS or Boxster Spyder. Those editions are just that extra bit sharper and more special...and it's worth it. My 987 Spyder is the only car I've ever owned that I will keep forever. No-one gets it except those that own it

Critical options:
Manual transmission
Sport bucket seats
