The M5 and M3/4 DCT has exactly the same 0-1000m time at 21,9s. The F10 M5 does around 150MPH at the 1000m mark, so it seems there won't be that much between them, even from 80MPH up... At 0-100 (MPH?) the M3/4 DCT will definitely be close, since they actually are crossing the 1000m (1km) mark at around 150MPH at exactly the same time |

M5 has always been strongest in the higher speeds. That's where my previous E60 M5 over ran the Gallardo and F430.

Can't compare old cars to new cars. Can't compare modified cars to stock cars. Unless your posting a "I did these mods" and "best this much, much faster than M5 car" thread - that's interesting just to know the capabilities of the M5 when pushed outside of stock constraints. The F Series M3 is impressive - CFRP and weight reduction... Makes one think about the G series M5. BMW purchased a carbon fiber company a few years ago. Finally the product of that acquisition has made it to production, right into the new M3/M4. Body panels was a given, but high stress mechanical components like the drive shaft is impressive. Probably the material they will use to make a AWD solution worthy of an M badge.

My thoughts on this car have not changed....
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showpos...2&postcount=61 "Anyone who has been to the Welt in recent months knows that BMW is far ahead in carbon fiber and carbon fiber reinforced plastic technology... The question is, are M5 drivers willing to give up their sunroof, fancy heated and cooled superadjustable seats, powered trunk lid, soft close doors, and any plethora of other luxury features to remove a perceived heavy feel? Given the performance of the powertain and steering of the car, I am very happy to have all the luxury features the M5 has but the M3/4 do not. For those who really believe the M5 is too heavy -- translate this into a performance deficit where you want to see improvement (0-60, 1/4 mile, nurburgring or other track lap time), and give an example where another 4 door, 5 person car is doing it better by keeping the vehicle lighter." That new tech will be in the G30 M5 and i can't wait!

Im doubting that video... There was clearly a mis-shift at 55 seconds. the driver of the GT3 has several more questionable shifts. The GT3's strong suit is not straight line, but it still hauls. I had both at the same time for about 3 full years and the GT3 was hands down faster than either of my E60's I had at the time. My 991 GT3 will be here soon so I can give comparison, but I assure you it will blow away the F10 M5.

in addition, basically every review so far for the gt3 pretty much has it the best sports car EVER PRODUCED. PERIOD. now, i havent taken delivery yet, and that is a big claim, but just sayin. the 991 gt3 was tested at 3.0 seconds to 60 mph. by one of the mags. forget which one. and porsche claims 0-100 mph time of 7.5 seconds. i dont see how from any speed the m5 can beat the gt3. the new m4? forget it. the gt3 has 45 more hp and 400 lbs LESS weight. |

I'd keep the car if we had more mods but I'm fast enough that nobody wants to race me but not fast enough to race against fully built cars right in the middle lol. |

There are plenty of dealerships out there where you can be 9 or better on the list without putting anything down.

In my humble opinion, I don't care at all if the M3/4 is faster.

I saw
m4 0-60 3.8-4.4 1/4 mile. 12.01-12.5 They tested m4 vs mb c63 And both are about same 1/4 times...... I really think that m4 will be around 12.3 to 12.5 1/4 mile In 0-60 m3/m4 will hang with m5 On 1/4 m5 will beat m3/m4 any day by 0.3-0.5 sec Bmw wouldn't make an m3 faster than m5 that would just be like cutting your veins....

None yet, most likely in August when people are completing their break-in services. I know one dude personally where I live, who is dismantling his Supercharged E92 M3 Lime Rock Edition and taking delivery of a brand new Black Sapphire Metallic M4 this month. I may race him when I get a chance.
I'm in agreement with Gnazulu though, I really don't care which one is faster 0-60, it's almost a pointless metric to me. Rolling race and track lap times are more conclusive. I've always felt it's fun to debate about these metrics too, but I have nothing to prove to anyone. I'll be doing some rolling races next month though, so that should be fun. Have seriously thought about another car because I do feel the need to go to the track more since I live in car enthusiast hell, where I don't have wide open country roads or desolate desert roads to race around in anymore, so the M3/M4 has been on the decision plate for a little while now. But I'm still wanting/willing to explore the capabilities of the F10 M5. I mean no one really knows what a 750+hp F10 M5, with Carbon Ceramic Brakes, lightweight 20" wheels, and 285mm tires in front/305mm tires in back, can do at VIR or Watkins Glen or Lime Rock. I feel like I want to really push that envelope instead of just giving up because the F10 M5 is 4,400lbs and driving a lighter car with less power is a better choice. So in essence, I'm looking to answer a question that no-one really knows the answer too, can a heavy F10 M5 be a great track car with modifications? I believe the E60 M5 community proved that question to be true for the E60 M5.
