M3/4 is just a better car dollar for dollar. It will beat M5 on most tracks, that's all that counts to me.

I do not track my cars, IMO the M6 GC CP is a mile better and here in the UK at the moment anyway the M6 GC can be had for M5 money.
So a no brainer .

I disagree.

A 80k M3 and 110k M5 costs same monthly here in US if you lease. M3 is a better value when it starts selling below invoice with much higher residuals. Right now, its a bit of a rip off. It will have over 1100/month payment, p-car territory.

There is way too much hype right now around this car. I'm just worried a lot of these "wow" reviews are just due to hype and people are too excited. I dont expect people paying sticker plus for this car to come here and provide a realistic view on the car. In fact, Dave's review was the only sensible and respectful review I have read so far. Only people who have no plans to buy this car right away and who own similar cars can provide a realistic feedback.

Look at the F80 forums, many of those guys come from cars like 328, acura, and 135. There is a poll in the E9X M3 forum where 92% of people say they are keeping their M3. I will only listen to people who own similar or better cars when it comes to reviews. For someone who has never owned an M3, of course it will be the best thing ever.

yeah if you want a track car, but soft close doors, seats, speak setup [does don't civic vibrate like f30 hk even blasting b&o], etc. all have real value and two extra cylinders and power 60-130 that the m4 will only ever see if they crack the ecu and run upgraded turbos. at least that seems to be my read on what Terry is saying.

Yes I saw that poll and the amount of butt hurt in there is out of control. We're simply seeing history repeat itself if you will...same thing happened when E92 came out.

Anyway I like to deal with facts not some butt hurt coming mostly from 2013 M3 owners who for the most part are new to ///M like you stated above.

It will be humorous revisiting these threads few years down the line.

Exactly, a car company won't satisfy everyone with one car...thus we get to choose from a line up of tasty things.

I honestly don't see why people get so hung up on track times and stat racing, I pass GT3's and Z06's on track all the time in my inferior 10 year old Z4M . Most people can't drive their cars at 50% of their capability . Just buy something that is fun, suits your needs and you think looks good . Too much I have to have the car with the fastest lap time on Bimmerpost lately . If you really want a fast car , go to a driver school regularly !

well I think because M3/M4 are track cars and that's why their owners always talk about track however I agree with you that most of them are not able to even push the car to %50 of it's capability; Although everybody can floor the gas in straight line

This is just not why you drive a GT3. It's just a ridiculous experience apparently ( having never driven one myself). The raw connected race car feel and track abilities (for those who track) are it's draws.

I am now back to seriously considering trading my TTS Cab in November when my GT3 is set to arrive (in fact, this is the likely course of purchases for me) and then ordering a 2016 Facelift TTS and deciding in the meantime whether to keep the GT3 or not, depending on how much I like it or dislike it.

And I hope you like the huge run-on sentence Vic-lol

^^^^THIS. Exactly what I was thinking as soon as you see him drop on shifts. The PDK on the GT3 has a 50 millisecond shift. You'll gain a half length on a 7MT with each row he performs. I still hold to my statement that this is not really the appeal of the GT3.

Thanks again for the info and the link. Did HvS said the above in the mag Sport Auto? His statements about driving a car at 80%, and unfamiliarity with a car introduce more variables.

Then this review coming from a Porsche 997 GT3 owner (and a long line of other P-cars) might be what you are looking for

And this one coming from an E9x M3 owner with Vt-2 625 Kit, Stoptech trophies, full Akra:

My prediction, and I have said this before, is that even if the M3/M4 is faster 0-60 than the M5/M6, then from 60-100 the M5/M6 will win no doubt. Full traction just needs to be achieved and the M5 is gone. By the way a 2014 F10 M5 with the BMS tune ran an 11.4 quarter mile time. That is FAST. I doubt even with a tune we'll see M3/M4 times get that fast. It would be interesting to be proved wrong though. Lol!
Hind sight is a bitch sometimes isn't it?

TPG Tuning's 2015 BMW M4 on its FIRST pass ever down the track with just 560 miles on it -- ran a 11.2 @ 123 and a fast time of the day 11.18 @ 123.56, as the fastest M4 quarter mile record. Car is fitted with TPG Tunings track exhaust system.

And even with drag radials and the jB4 with race gas it's 11 mph slower than the fastest tuned f10 trap ( 134mph trap) which also has run a 10.9 ET without a real tune lol . Yep 11.1 @123 is right there with the M5 record 10.9 @131 .
