Oldie, but goodie from last year before my Mika's makeover.
Supposed to be a big snow storm here tomorrow, maybe I'll make another video, but yeah it's so so damn cold here. Can't wait for Spring!

What made you give Mika a makeover to begin with? Got bored with black?

- After my 6,000 mile road trip across the USA, I accumulated A LOT of rock chips on the hood and front fenders. My front bumper was clear bra'd so it's still fine, but I wanted to either repair the rock chips or find some way to make them disappear. - I was attracting too much attention in the Nazi concentration camp they call Virginia for the "dark" look of my car. The Black Sapphire Metallic mixed with 15% dark tinted windows draws Virginia State Police and Local County Police to a car like flies to feces. They really hate that look on a car and feel as if you are up to no good if they cannot actually see inside your vehicle. It doesn't matter to them if your vehicle is registered out of state and are only passing through Virginia either. - I had originally order BSM on my M5 when I did Euro Delivery a few years ago bu then I had tried to change my order to Monte Carlo after some thought. However, I tried to change the color after 150 Status and my CA said that it could not be done. So I was looking for a change to my beaten up paint job to something blue because that's what I originally changed my mind to years ago. - I wanted to pick a color and scheme that would accentuate the lines of the M5 and make it really stand out. Part of this reasoning was also a strategy against the Gestapo SS of Virginia, to so as they say "hide in plain sight." And it has totally worked, not once have I been bothered in the 1 year that I have had the vinyl wrap on. - With a whole new look to the car, came a whole new personality and I was almost about to sell the car before I decided to change it's whole personae. So I gave it a new color, new engine performance, new suspension performance and I really love it. Plus here on the East Coast, especially in DC, the car culture is about 0.00001% of what the culture is like in Southern California and so I wanted to bring a little California Style to an area of the country that really only sees automobiles as a means of getting yourself to your government job and absolutely nothing more. The DC area is like the automotive enthusiast Gulag and with my car looking the way it does now and performing the way it does, I feel I at least have a little part of Southern California with me. It's literally the brightest thing on the road now. - Something I learned after doing a vinyl wrap, and I think I learned this because I picked one of the best colors possible, a gloss bright blue, is that a gloss vinyl reflects ALL light so much better than paint does. Only a very few paints have as much reflectivity as my vinyl does, I think Fire Orange is pretty close. All that metallic in paint jobs soaks up so much sun light and non-sunlight that it traps all that light in the paint and doesn't show off the lines of the car as well. In California I liked having a dark car as it kept me visually off of police sight lines on the roads and highways, but on the East Coast it is opposite. - One added benefit, is that now that my car is so bright, other drivers on the road can't not-see my car and therefore I have a lesser chance of being hit by idiotic, texting, and distracted drivers. So as you can see I don't do anything to my cars without deep analysis. I think if you ever moved and lived in Southern California with any kind of high performance car, the love for your car would rise 10 fold. Not to mention all of the car Rally's I used to do back home in SoCal. Targa Trophy, Gold Rush, Cruise 4 Kids, Life in 6th Gear, etc, etc, there's so many. Hell there was even one rally we did WITH police escort and the police were speeding on the highway doing 140mph along with all the Lambo's and Aston's. NOTHING like that would ever happen on the East Coast.
