Black Panel

Does anyone know why the F10M does not come with a full black panel like the other 5ers ?

I think he is referring to the gauge area and yes, it is full black panel and different even from that of the standard 5 series.

I'd assume that BMW is considering it 'necessary' of an M car to show its tachometer and speedometer all the time. Kinda adds to the M theme with the special font and red needles.

Best regards,

Yeah, this bummed me out. I don't buy needing to show a speedo and tach all the time; when the car is off, it's off. I simply assumed the M5 would have the full black panel display. Instead it's got the TFT that extends the entire lower length of the cluster rather than just the center and to the right, but it's not quite the same.

Maybe for LCI, but I doubt it.

UPDATE: This video purportedly shows an M5 with full black panel; even the silver rings light up! I wonder what you need for it?
