Jb4 Break-in Period?
Hey everyone, I finally got my new JB4 installed and have been playing around with the Iphone app.
So far I am having issues giving any impressions as I notice no gain what so ever. Keeping in mind I have barely driven the car, and only opened it up 1st thru 3rd gear once. How long does it take to adapt to the piggyback so I can start to feel the gains? |

I attached some logs.....
If I am reading this right I am topping out at like 7 lbs of boost..... which is odd as it didn't feel sluggish or anything. |

Send log to Terry or post a new thread looking for help on the N54tech forum.
It should stand out like b@ll@cks on a dog and straight away if running right, a real night and day change which would feel scary fast at first and ntiable in first through 3rd as a massive loss of traction and smiles everywhere. |

Those logs are a handful to sift through - next time start your log before accelerating WOT from 2k RPM to redline in 3rd and 4th gear, and then stop the log. Much cleaner and easier. Took a quick scroll through it and can't find a clean pull, could have missed it though.
Going from stock to Map 2 with JB4+BCM is an unmistakable difference. |

One other question..... I was going to throw some octane booster into my tank as well.
When I last filled up I had approximately a 1/4 tank of 91 octane and filled it up with 94. Could that be the issue that I am getting some knock ? |

Maybe the bcm is not connected correctly, I say this because the time you did get into boost it was much lower than target. Good luck |

I have posted better logs with a few full throttle runs. My boost is WAY below target and I am running 94 octane + an octane booster.
I'm at a loss as to what the issue is. Any feedback you can provide prior to me bringing it back to the shop that installed it would be very appreciated. 2013 BMW M5 "Manual" BMS Intake BMS Charge Pipe Purchased the JB Stage 1 , and the JB4+BCM upgrade kit. Had everything installed at a professional shop that has done these kits before "EEC Motors Edmonton". Also I am using the JB4 bluetooth addon. One other note when I try and run Map 1 I see no change in performance.... If the issue was the BCM was not installed correctly should at least Map 1 work . |

Hope you get it sorted out.
And here I thought I had the fastest M5 in Edmonton. Guess I better keep a look out for you. What color is your car?

My Car's color is Signapore Grey. Terry got back to me and told me there is something physically wrong with the install, but he can't figure out what exactly. He also mentioned: "There is also a known problem on F10s with a vacuum line by the muffler breaking causing similar low boost modes. So search for info on that on the forums." Anyways I will be dropping my car back off at the installers to see if they can figure this one out. |

Hey i had a similar issue after install with mine, put it on map 0 and that is stock, if the car targets the stock boost no problem then you know the hardware is on correct but you have a canbus issue. check the cable that is connected to the obd, and then the pins that are installed in the jb4 harness. In my case a pin had came out, once i fixed that everything was fine

I think the vacuum line Terry is mentioning is the one to the exhaust valve on the rear silencers- are you running a non-oem exhaust, if so check the vacuum operation line is blanked correctly. Should be up under the bumper cover at the back of the car near the rear mufflers.
I would check that all the hoses and clips on the charge pipes are correctly fitted and tight, also the intercooler to throttle body hose and clips on the passenger side intercooler are fitted correctly as these are loosened so the intercooler can be moved to gain access to the BMC / TMAP connectors. You will need to quickly remove the passenger side airbox (top and bottom as one piece) so you can see the intercooler bottom hose and hose clip- its a five minute look / fix. If the BMC connectors get swapped (difficult now as they are cable tied as pairs) you would get one bank under target. Final get it back to the garage to check over the install- there is something wrong. |

Thanks everyone for the multiple replies. I will be taking my car back to the installer tomorrow. I did another run on map 0, and I can see that the boost is still not achieving its target.
However It seams like it's closer to target on Map 0 than Map 1/2. Anything thoughts on this guys ? I attached the log at Map 0. |

Hmm... this problem continues to perplex me. Dropped my car off at the shop last week so they could fiddle with it over the weekend.
The guy told me he checked all the connections, drove it for a bit with the BCM disconnected than reconnected it. He said he noticed a difference after doing this. I pick up the car and it seams fast, but to be honest not much faster than stock. I havent had a chance to do an extensive full throttle run, but I did log one quick run in second gear. From the log it seams that that I am hitting target boost in higher RPMS. What do you guys think, I attached the log... Will make a post on N54tech as well. |
