Choosing a Great Towel for Drying Your Car

In this video, I discuss drying a car with the Pluffle waffle weave towel from The Rag Company. If you don't know anything about The Rag Company, be sure to kook at this thread.

The towel that I use in this video is not only affordable, it is very practical for watery situations. With the foundation of the towel being a waffle weave style towel, it is already absorbent. Incorporate some of the plush offered by the Eagle Blue Edgeless towel and you have combined a level of safety to coexist with all that absorbancy. Together, they are known as the "The Platinum Pluffle", a 16"x16" plush waffle weave towel that is excellent for drying your entire car.

There was always two things that bothered me about the giant drying towels that folks normally use and the first was how cumbersome they were to wring out. The second was keeping them folded once they were saturated with water. This problem is a non-issue with the Platinum Pluffle as you will see in the following video.

Enjoy!

The Junkman

That's what I have, but not everyone is going to spend around $330.00 to dry their car, especially if there is a feasible alternative out there.

Large California Water Blade for flat surfaces (start with the roof and work down) and micro fiber cloth to finish off. It's the quickest technique and I've doing that for over a decade.

The blade works best on a waxed car, water just beads and flicks off.

And that's the quickest way to screw up your paint. I would never advise anyone to use that thing.

Nothing absorbs water like a waffle weave towel. These just happen to be small enough to easily wring out and soft enough for the most delicate finishes.

My 3 towels arrived on Friday. I tested them out today. I was able to use one towell to dry nearly the whole car! I was suprised it held so much water. This was a win. Thanks again for the tip JM 2008

There's quite a few folks out there that think that all this stuff I put out is just hype. Folks like you who have taken the plunge realize very quickly what they have been missing out on. Thanks for your feedback.

I don't spray detail spray on a car unless I'm claying it or removing bird poop or something like that. I NEVER use detail spray to remove dust. That's a true recipe for swirl marks galore. I use a waffle weave to remove detail spray when I'm doing bird poop removal. I always use a waffle weave for runny liquids. As for applying wax, I use a wax applicator pad.

So what do you do to remove dust? A full wash?

Yes, a full wash.

It's better to let your car sit dirty and not attempt to remove dust or dirt with detail spray and microfiber.

My car may sit for 3-4 weeks until I have time to do a proper wash, which to me is pre wash with a pressure washer, foam cannon, and then 2 bucket wash. Anything else and you're going to mess up your paint.

Just my opinion.
