Christmas comes in 4 days
Hi All,
My 2015 M5 is scheduled to be delivered in 4 days and it looks like Christmas will be coming a little early this year! A little bit about the M5-- Singapore Gray, Sakhir Orange extended merino, Competition Package, Executive Package, Black Kidney Grilles, Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler, Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps, Carbon Fiber Selector Lever, and Stainless Steel Pedals. I'll be sure to post photos once the beast arrives! A few questions for members who have been on this board for a while: Anything that you wish you had known when you first got into your F10 M5 early on? (Sport setting configurations, etc). I have driven most M cars, and have regularly been switching between a 2013 550xi and a 2011 X5 50i for daily driving, but I know the M5 will be a completely different animal. Thanks in advance for any feedback! |

Congrats man! Sounds like an awesome setup! Did your dealer let you order it with all of those Carbon Fiber bits from the Factory or did you order them separate and the dealership is installing them for you when it arrives??
Anyways, I will be making some instruction videos next month about the F10 M5. They should help new owners sort out all the car is capable of. For now, just respect the amount of torque that is going to come with the vehicle and don't forget the fact that the tires will need to be broken in for the first 500 miles, so they won't grip as well as they can until they are broken in.

Oh by the way, I don't know what the weather is like there right now, but if you can, after you get some miles on the tires, try to hit up Route 202 leading up to Astoria. I drove that road a couple of years ago in the M5 and it was awesome. Check out my thread Day 4 from my trip a couple of years ago. The 202 is worth the drive. Hopefully it's not snowing there right now.

The only advice I have is to break-in the engine properly (first 20-50 miles) or you may join the others that have the dreaded burning oil issue. First, read this. Here are the settings I recommend; Throttle sport+ and D3 Steering your choice Dampers your choice Do not use cruse control for the first 100 miles, vary your speed as in speed up and allow the engine to slow the car. Good luck. |

I've just started this thread and it's impessive. I'm always up for a nice road trip. Cool that you were able to take many backroads too. I've driven some of those roads as well. Sorry OP, congrats on the new car. Looking forward to the pics.
