2016 as a 2017 Model Year. There will be no 2018 M5. The next generation 5-Series G30 will be released in 2016. The next M5 will come out about 2 years after that, as a 2019 Model Year M5. Expect another 4-5 years from now before we even see the next generation M5 on the streets.

The 5 generations are produced as below:
E28 : 1985-1988 (4 years)
E34 : 1989-1995 (7 years)
E39 : 1998-2003 (6 years)
E60 : 2005-2010 (6 years)
F10 : 2011- present

I believe the next generation of M5 would not be available in US sooner than 2017... Maybe late 2017 as 2018 model!

Yes. I'm predicting the last model year for the F10 M5 will be 2017 built from about July 2016 to Dec 2016.

Don't forget about all the Z cars coming out. Surely the 5 and 6 will have M versions. Maybe even the 3 and 4.
