Hit rev limiter today really bad -:( 1st gear probably at 60-70 mph!!

You know with DCT sometimes you don't know from HUD whether 1 is D1 or M1 -
And thinking it was D1 I accelerated so fast and problem is not hitting the limiter but not knowing I was doing it at all! Really tool my by surprise as I was sure I was D1 and probably hit 60-70 mph first gear then it did bounce off!

I don't abuse my cars and felt so bad for the engine -
I know that most people on track days especially with MT they hit REV limiter often but DO YOU REALLY believe it doesn't hurt the engine!
Is the S63 really better prepared for this type of revving and hitting the limiter?

It's fine dude. Relax. The rev limiter is there to protect from over revs. No chance of a money shift in a DCT. it's all good

Thank you sir
Was really bad as i saw 60-70 mph and because I wasn't prepared for it and kept pushing and took me 2-3 seconds to figure out I hit the limiter again - Because did it before while in Break In Once - at 500 miles !! -

Very smart driver -
I need Mschool ASAP

Goodness
Glad it is a lease -

I doubt that you could even hit 40 in first gear, I think the manual has the max at 39. The fuel cut-off is there to prevent over-revving - I have hit it many times as I'm sure many of us have. I wouldn't worry about it.

The way I understand you can't over-rev a DCT. You can over-rev a 6MT

I dunno what to think but I saw 60 mph not sure exactly whether after I moved the lever to the right to or before -
Doubt that 39 mph is the highest for the 1st gear
My friend said he goes to 60mph in his Z06 on first gear but his is manual and I am sure he has a limiter too!!

The only way you can over rev a 6MT is by downshifting and letting out the clutch when the vehicles speed is to high for the chosen gear. The DCT doesn't allow you to do that.

Hitting the rev limiter under acceleration is not a problem, or dangerous for the engine BTW

I think you must have been in second or gotten it there if you saw 60. I have done this too and it only gets to about 35 before it limits and forces you to shift. No big deal, don't sweat it.

My Car hits the fuel cut off limiter at 39 in first gear, 73 in second gear and 110 in third gear I think either your car have different engine or your speedo has %50 error
I tested several times. Don't worry nothing is gonna happen since this is a protection mechanism.
I'm not sure if I'm right but I feel there is a relation between the maximum speed in each gear and the gear ratio for the first 4 gear (correct me if I'm wrong). looking at gear ratio for this DCT I found 4.81 / 2.59 / 1.70 / 1.28 :1 and the relation is almost there. 39 * 4.81 is almost equal to 73*2.59 and 110*1.7 and 146 *1.28; however I have not tested the last one yet
This Car is amazing. I usually drive in Manual mode and you know you have to change the gear. It was in the morning and I was in rush so had no time to let engine warm up. I started driving with cold engine and I was not so concentrated on gear changing I heard the engine sound was revving high and then I felt the rev decreased. I looked at the cluster and I saw the gear was changed to the second one. I thought something is wrong so at lunch time called the SA and shared my experience with him. He told me this is the protection mechanism to protect the engine when It's cold even if it is in manual mode; the ECU will do the driver's job

I think your having too much fun and forget to shift. That's ok. Just use 3rd gear for everything. A lot of speed there.

I hit rev limiter numerous times at Watkins Glen (not on purpose) the power cuts out at red line under hard acceleration for about a second to let the revs come down. have never downshifted into red however.
