Even in daily driving, you will want the best tires for this beast. Michelin PSS are hands down the best tires Ive ever had, the ride quality is phenomenal also, and from $1500 for Tirerack, theres really no debate.

As for P Zeros, theyre an extremely soft tire, had them on my C63 and many people would rip through the rears in 3-4k miles. From what Ive heard regarding PSS tires, youre getting 3 to 4 times the wear out of them, obviously YMMV based on how u drive.

Never understood people who spend 100k on a car and then cheap out on (literally) where the rubber meets the road. Buy quality tires

Fair enough and nice situation to be in!

My post actually should have focused on the massive HP/Torque of the engine instead of the cost of the car (which is irrelevant). I see a lot of E60 M5s around town now with completely crap tires. That car is a relative bargain these days, but that doesn't mean you should cheap out on the tires.

I'm pretty impressed. At 8000 miles with 6/10 left.

I think the oem setup for Michelin PSS will run you about $1500 US and if you buy from there, then pay another couple hundreds to have them installed @ your local garage or tire shop.
Thanks a lot! I found them too. Do you think I should go for the Michelin PSS or Pirelli P Zero?
Michelin PSS.

P Zero is junk. Look at how Pirelli's F1 tires fall apart after 5 laps. They would have to pay me to run P Zeros on the M5.

I wouldn't say they're junk (biased as I had no other option ) and comparing them to what F1 is running doesn't really make much sense either as I'm pretty sure it's not the same compound used on their street tires
The Pzeros actually are wearing very well and after ~500mls and higher outside temps (+50) now provide much improved grip. When I had them mounted initially grip was terrible (also drove them in <40F temps) .
However I'll still switch to Michelin PSS once I get my 305s / 20 from Canada (size not sold in the US) as they look a little more aggressive than the Pzeros

Anyone tried the Goodyear F1? I have read some very good reviews on them.

BMW puts Michelin PSS on the car from the factory...I'll just keep it that way

Anyone not using the PSS on the car is short changing themselves IMHO. Having used many differing kinds of ultra high performance street tyres I can say that nothing has come close to the complete performance package of the PSS. Icing on the cake is the incredible longevity even with 'spirited' usage! lol

+1

Michelin definitely got it right with the PSS.
