Brakes Squeaking...oh my

Have about 650 miles on the new ride and the front brakes are squeaking. only when they are warmed up, nothing when cold. This has happened from day one but squeaking seems to be getting worse lately. no hard stops. Anyone else ?

Did your car sit outside like mine on the dock for 87 days?

I have plenty of rust and squeaking!

Mine sat only for two weeks, so no rust.

Yes, there are others. Sometimes after driving for a couple of hours my brakes squeak and whine like an old bus coming to a stop.

If the M5 is like virtually every other performance car (including the M3), squeaking brakes are normal depending on ambient temperature, brake temperature, and how hard you're applying the brakes. Ceramics will make even more noise under road use, fyi.

I don't have my m5 yet, but on my 550. when it rains, mine squeak just slowly moving forward inch by inch. I cant stand it. My SA told me it was because I had aftermarket wheels. I looked at him and laughed. I hope this problem can be fixed with all the money spent on these cars. My 07 yukon has 150k on the clock and has never once had a brake problem.

Ive seen brake squeak appear on my old x5 due to excessively light braking over a long period of time (i.e. an 8 month winter). If you tend to drive your car in slow moving traffic a lot, that could be the cause (I think the word is that weather and dirt/rust can cause the surface of the disc to become uneven).

Take the beast out for a little while and drive balls to the wall - make sure to include lots of hard braking. If that doesnt fix it, it may be a resonance problem that is more annoying to get rid of. Ive seen people fix brake noise by changing to a different brand of brake pad and there might be some coatings available that might help. Id try some hard driving first and see if it works though, its cheaper and so much funner.

Bedding the brakes in properly and transferring the friction material to the rotors does help eliminate some of the squeak. Takes some time, some patience and a road where you won't get looked at like you are crazy man (if that bothers you)

Ceramics generally won't help the issue. Instead of a squeak you get a dull grinding noise.
