TPM - Tire Pressure Monitoring (not installed)

In M5 reviews (or at least one of them) they mentioned how the TPM display showed the tire pressure and temperature for each wheel (pretty cool!). However after a European Delivery on 7 SEP, i found it is not there.... Went to the M5 launch on the 13 SEP and one of the BMW guys said it should be there - so we went out to car, and it wasn't where it was supposed to be... Mine just showed the wheels as being green. I also took car to BMW Niederlassung (apparently a BMW owned service center) on advice of the M VP of Sales, and one of their lead technicians (Florian Peter) was surprised it wasn't there as well... The correct TPM monitors are on the wheels (i.e. the silver ones, that Florian verified), it doesn't show in display.

Anyone pressed BMW on this? or found a way to get it "turned on"?

I didn't check mine before I dropped off the car after ED, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't there like you have reported on yours. I will confirm and bring to the attention of my dealer if it is not on my M5 when I get it back stateside. You can always try contacting BMW North America customer relations, so they can begin to document it for you also. Good luck, bro!

Cdn M5 model does not have. It uses indirect tpms which the sensor is mounted in the ABS system.

I believe the US uses direct tpms which the sensor is mounted to each of the (inside) wheel, you can tell by the valve stem.

I did ED and saw what looked like "flat tire detection" but nothing showing temps and pressures. I got the 20s. Any chance you lose the TPMS sensors with the lower profile wheels?

Anyone with 19s check for "full" TPMS?

Save us Canadian some money when buying new wheels especially many will get an extra set just for winter season. I find this option makes perfect sense to Canadian market.

I ran my VIN and my car is equipped with "Tire Pressure Display". I assume all US M5's have the same. I bet the hardware is all there, and someone will figure out how to code this feature.

Per manual (Page 98), only Canadian models display pressure and temperature. U.S. just shows status" Green=OK, Yellow=low pressure.

@Journeyguy: can you confirm whether your U.S. car shows numeric pressure/temp or just green/yellow?

I was going to say this could be done by coding. Is it the same code setting to activate as on the regular F10? Did you need new 2013 PSDZ files?

I just checked briefly and it showed green/yellow color like any other TPM in BMW's. There was another option to reset which I dint check.....but it looks likes a standard TPM / green / yellow color where you can reset once you get the warning.

So you were able to add individual tire pressure and tire temp with a coding change to a US vehicle?

Yes.

Lots of other goodies as well as:
Enable trunk closing with FOB
Turned off all annoying disclaimers
DVD in motion
Still working on a few others, I noticed a "M Lap Timer" in one of the files but I couldn't find it in the I-drive when I coded it.
