Brake Squeal-just me left ???

Still waiting on service to decide what to do next. Only a few hundred miles on second set of pads and rotors. What a downer to owner experience. So ANNOYING and embarrassing . I don't want to take people in my car.

Could it be road salt????? What I don't understand is why this problem did not show up in all the testing and the full year of sales for 2012 in countries outside of the U.S. All I ever heard about for 2012 issues was the clunk sound and of course the oil pump recall. Did BMW change any brake parts for intro into the U.S.? I have to take people out to dinner tomorrow night and guess what , I am taking them in my Malibu. I don't need my friends (who know I am a car enthusiast ), asking me what that noise is and than trying to make-up excuses for BMW engineering.

That's a major bummer. My rotors and pads were replaced a few weeks ago, but with all the snow, I haven't driven it too much. But the noise has not come back yet. Probably only 150 miles since the service. Tell BMW to put Brembo brakes on it if they can't fix the issue.

It must not affect all the M5'a though, or this board would be lit up.

Good luck with a fix.

Thanks took it out Friday night and made a dozen hard stops from 60 to 70 mph down to around 20 mph. Saturday the brakes were completely silent . Today squeal bake again . What next???? . I don't have time to take it out every morning to "clean" the pads and rotors off . BMW are you monitoring this site and working to solve this issue , or just reporting this on your social media log as a number in your complaint column ???? Help this is soooo annoying.

Brake noise

I had mine done too. Dealership installed a new set of pads and it continuously making the noise.
So I called my service manager and he told me there is nothing else they can do.
Can you believe $108k M5 cannot fix the brake noise?
So after a long thought, I traded my 2013 F10 to 2013 Porsche cayenne turbo. And will never buy another BMW.
It was embarrassed to drive loud brake squeal noise...

Very unhappy with my cayenne turbo wls 2013 ( Dezember delivered)

Changed brake pads and still some massive brake sounds, people start looking at my car due to the brake nois. Porsche seems to be unable to fix on a 200k CHF car this issue. In the otherhand the m5 is just Perfect with 5000 km on the clock and summer driving

I also have actually thought about trading in the M5 due to the howling squeal. (at this time quiet but unfortunately I expect noise back any day now). The screeching howl seriously reduces owner experience every time I and those around me who look over witness it. I thought about carrying a sign in the rear windows with the following: The Screech You Hear Is Due To The "Racing Brakes" On My Car. I Am I One Of The Lucky 5% Who Have M5's That Get To Enjoy This Howl. BMW I know you are monitoring this site daily. Stop monitoring and start solving.

if google ... brake squeal + brembo brakes ...

result came back it happens to other car manuf. as well using brembo brakes, incl Lexus ISF, Nissan GTR, Porsche, Camaro, etc.

One guy suggests to check for the postion alignment of the brembo brakes piston caliper ... he checked his and it was misaligned slightly and when he corrected/adjusted his calipers, the noise was gone.

Mine also squeal in hot, warm, humid & freezing cold weather. But mine happens only a handful of times so far (10,000km / 6 months of ownership) and I did a few hard stops and the squealings were gone. Therefore, I consider myself lucky as compared to others who had major squealing

I guess I'd like to add myself to the growing list. My car just recently started making a startlingly loud squealing sound at random times when my brakes are applied. It's only happened a few times so far. I did notice that a slight change in brake pedal pressure, either harder or softer, immediately stops the noise. For now...

I have it as well and have already had it looked at once by BMW. They of course said my brakes are fine.

Anyways I will take in again and see what they say...
