Silverstone II F10 M5 spotted in Hollywood (pics)

F10 M5 prototypes have been running around Southern California for months now, and continue to do so even as the production F10 M5 makes its public debut at the Frankfurt IAA.

This Silverstone II F10 M5 was just spotted in Hollywood.

Amongst testing the US manual only models they are also doing intensive compatibility testing with US fuels to prevent the cause of Turbo failure which was part to the cause of US Turbo problems.

Because the M5 does not arrive until nearer the end of Spring early summer in the US. There is time to make compatibility evaluations.

Why would they need fuel testing when they use the same turbo setup on the XM's which have been out for a couple years now? Does not make much sense and do not think that is what they are doing IMO.

There haven't been any US turbo failure issues. The HPFP was due to a supplier not following tolerances. It is also worth noting the US fuel and German fuel are now almost the same- Germany is using E10 and the US is low sulfur. The US needs for EPA reasons 100k miles logged to evaluate the emissions systems and all the sensors.

They are testing the manual (may be other markets as well from what I gathered) and M tests at Button Willow to evaluate the cooling system and the Carbon Ceramic brake kit.

The N63, and S63 have had no issues in the US the N63 even with the Performance upgrade 7RR has been fine and nothing worth noting as far as reliability goes.

Not true. My 2010 X5M suffered multiple turbo failures, ultimately resulting in buyback from BMW. Mine has not been the only one. There are at least 2 in the UK that had the same problem and one more in US. You can see this info at www . xoutpost . com.
