Nick Murray F10 M5 Review

I was wondering if he was ever going to review this car.

Enjoy.

Apologies if items like this are supposed to be posted elsewhere.

Why is he doing a review on the M5? I don't think he owns one, unless he traded his M4 in for one? Also, why a review now when the car is already 3 years old? I think he might be trying to quit his day job and establish a new career doing car reviews, which I wish him good luck, but doing a review on car that there is nothing new on seems like a weird thing to do. He seems like a nice guy but his accent and attitude seem kind of annoying. I didn't watch the whole thing, but the video isn't really informative or entertaining. We all know about the coding you can do on BMW's. :/

I guess my response to that would be...because why not? There is no expiration date for when one can do a car review. Though, as you pointed out, most people will know all they need to know about a m5 by now.

As with most amateur car reviewers it is mostly done as a fun hobby. They do not get access to press cars like someone who works for say, Motor Trend. And most of those professional reviewers do not own the cars they test drive.

Some reviews are informative based while others aim to entertain (Top Gear was primarily entertainment focused in the later years IMHO).

Car reviews tend to be very redundant, all speaking to the specs and stats for a particular car so, I actually find a change of pace/style enjoyable.

That being said I have preferred some of his other reviews more. But again I was simply sharing, because why not?

Because he had some runs with his friend (M5 owner) and got impressed

Thanks for posting this. Ok, I get it. But, I watched a couple of his reviews on his 911 and then when he got his M4. I realize it's not Chris Harris or Carlos Lago and Randy Pobst with thrashing the thing around a track or closed road course. Rather, I think his reviews are geared to the rest of us driving these cars as we do most of the time. Yeah, sometimes I wonder what he's thinking, but I generally like the completed project, think he's fair and on to something for people not in the M fold and wondering what to buy. So what if he doesn't own one, most of these reviewers have the car for a few hours on media day and show you how it goes sideways. I think there's room for other points of view no matter the context of when the car came out. Perhaps it's an acquired taste, but I think there's an audience.

I have seen a bunch of his videos. Overall a good products, but he tends to ramble sometimes but that can be fast forwarded. I think they are quite helpful overall.

I would agree that why not do a review now - nothing wrong with it.

I do wonder that he is on tape doing 100+ mph on public highways in pretty much every video. How does he not get ticketed???

I've watched him and don't mind him. What I do mind is him letting that dog of his in the car on unprotected seats.... at least he didn't put him in "his friend's M5"

Am i right in thinking he was in full comfort for the test.
I skipped through bits but didn't see him put it into M1 or M2.

No wonder he thought the car felt sluggish and heavy if it was in full comfort. Especially his comments on the steering wheel not giving feedback, get it in Sport+ and its a different experience.

Yet, :( Reviews like these make me wonder HIW CAN I GET RID OF THIS THING?! So good!!

In all likelihood I may end up buying this car after lease or just get another CPO with very low miles !! Gosh, I never had this problem before of SEPARATION PROBLEM !!

This car has been so good to me that I can't imagine letting go unless for something really better like 570S but then my kids won't have fun with me !!!

I had issues letting it go and also going beyond the warranty. I got a scat pack challenger but kept the M5 without trading it in and getting say a S class or something like that. I cannot let it go. It is hard.

Garage List
I think I am going to sell mine soon. I got three cars because I didn't trust my new wife to drive the M5. She's in her twenties and thought it was too big a car with too much power for her.

However since I have a 2 car garage and she parks her Mercedes behind the M5, I can never get the M5 out of the garage so I just end up driving the other two cars.

I think I will sell the M5 probably after holidays since prices are better in January than November/December due to end of holiday incentives.

Then if my wife makes it incident free until the advent of the 2017 E63S then I will upgrade her to that.

Yes. It looks like he put the suspension in Sport plus but leaves the transmission in the lowest (slowest) shift setting and throttle on efficiency and steering in comfort.

I absolutely love the beast (after I get the damn tint off I will love it even more).

I don't know if I can let it go. May end up keeping it as well. Looking into getting into a Volvo XC90 (2nd model year). That SUV is so so nice but don't want the first model year for that. I was thinking between that and Range Rover Sport but the tech in RR is pathetically slow. Anyone here have the Volvo? I haven't driven it yet and refraining from doing that until I'm ready.

Btw saw the XCAR review of 7 series - it was all high praises. Anyone driven that yet? The seats look pretty ugly though and that silver finish on the console and steering wheel - yuck!

Curious when you trade what will you buy? Looks like options in th 4 door arena are getting scarce. I looked at the RS7 but that butt can't take it. Waiting for the next generation Panamera GTS.
