New Koenigseggasjkghakjg Engine

http://jalopnik.com/5884144/swedish-...-of-the-future

Koeniaghjaklghjkl is supposed to be putting a camless engine in its new cars. All I can say is... holy shit. I'm curious as to see how much this is going to cost, and most importantly, how the engines are going to hold up.

Isn't this kind of old technology? I could be completely wrong but I remember reading that some F1 engines use air actuators to open valves.

Yeah, it's F1 technology but no one has thought to implement it in road-going cars because it's friggin' expensive as shit.

So I assume this "30% more efficient" figure is in terms of power, not fuel efficiency?

Can't wait to hear it

Fortunately none of these cars will accumulate any real mileage, so nobody will know how unreliable it will be.

BMW can't even get a decent high pressure fuel pump ferchrissakes

Pneumatic valves enable the the valves to open and close faster and more precisely. The problem you run into with this tech though , especially in F1 cars, is that multiple systems get run off the same pneumatic system in an effort to save weight. This means you have multiple previously independent systems now all grouped together so when one fails, they all fail.
