Used 458 Speciale Going For Major Premiums

I thought this was interesting really, a car that has a base MSRP of $288,000 going for as high as $525,000. Talk about an instant classic. Now obviously asking price is always usually off from what is actually paid but $525,000. I'd pay for it if I had the change, the lowest price I've seen listed is $385,000 which does seem reasonable. What do you guys think?

Here is the link to the one I saw that really got me thinking... http://www.ferrarimaseratipalmbeach....75VFA1F0204183

Except for a lot less you can have a better car that beats it around the track and in a straight line and looks damn good to boot.

That one of the most tastefully speced ones, it caught my eye, must be treat to see something like that around all the time. I can't stop admiring its beauty.

I don't think it should sell over at a premium and if it does something more reasonable like 20k or 30k. But it is what it is its a collectors car, nobodies ever gonna use it for its intended use.

My father had 458 for a short period of time and every time I drove it felt like a precision tool rear wheel drive tool, I can imagine this is to drive.

Yea I have one on order right now, only compliant that it has a relatively quiet exhaust but nothing that can be solved with some Capristo exhaust...

Agree 100%. As for driving in London at 30 mph...it's a little over rated.

Thanks for posting, you must love that car! 113.6 No special track tires, no laptops and no technicians as required by the Ferrari sums it up for me.

He has a love for his brand, a little more passionate than others.

You have a Speciale!!! I definitely would've snatched up an Italia if I was going for pre-owned, but I like having new cars. A 458 the way I want it is speced at 325k, and maybe a couple years down the road it'll be more finically sound for me to buy a 488 but as right I'll be satisfied with my Turbo S, its a great car but my heart always gonna want a rear wheel Ferrari...

You would be doing yourself a favor by snapping up a used 458 if a good deal comes your way. People who genuinely love Ferraris won't love the 488 after the new car euphoria wears off.

As much as I respect you and your amazing 991 TTS, I can't consider sport car (or super sport car) 991 in the same class of exotic cars such as Ferrari or Lamborghini. And for the money of 991 TTS I would compare it with McLaren MP4 or upcoming 570s, but I know I'm slightly bias since I'm kinda fallen in love with Mac after I test drove the MP4 last week. Should I pull the trigger for Mac? well I have difficulty to get decision taking Mac over used 458

I'm a P Fanboy and the TTS is an amazing vehicle but IMO the Speciale makes the Porsche feel like an M5.

GT3 is a better argument. That 991 drives like scalpel

LOL from the outside you would think right?

I am a pcar fanboy having 4 Turbos and 2 others (C4S, GT3 both 991's) but like you I have Ferrari ownership perspective. The Ferrari is the more "special" car (no pun). I don't have a Speciale but I know a lot about the car. I don't think they are worth 525k but I see a few pricing in the higher 300's (390k). I actually am really enjoying my V12 FF even more than my 458.. I think its the more daily application to what I need. I do love my 458 though and the sound it emits. As you know the exhaust and the looks clearly are striking and amazing to the ears. But I think I would rather have an F12 than Speciale.

I agree. For someone who owns or owned an Italia, I would never advise him to get the Speciale. No sense buying the same car twice. Despite what Ferrari would have us believed, they are not completely different cars. Crazy that used Speciales are going for such crazy price. I expect that to be just some crazy speculation going on and should fizzle out when sense kicks in. The FF is indeed a great daily usable ride while entertaining with that V12, trick AWD, and handling Speaking of which, have u had the chance to test drive the Speciale? I personally have very limited time behind the Italia to form any meaningful comparison.

I have only driven the car once (when it showed at dealer used) and I was able to get a short tester. But that in no way or form qualifies for a tangible opinion. I have watched many a video on it and while a tuned 991 Turbo S is faster from a dig and maybe on certain tracks, there is no way the subjective driver feel can meet or exceed what a Speciale brings let alone a 458. I have the 458 modded and had a Turbo S with a tune and exhaust and IMHO I would take the 458 all day. But that's my call owning both and I have different needs than others but at least I know both cars very well. I really need to see if I can source a better test drive with the Speciale. I have no doubt it will elicit the same rewarding driver experience that my 991 GT3 gives me currently but in comparo to the 458.
