Gxx M5 timeline?
Any of you all who are in the know or are better in touch with BMWs developmental plans know exactly when the next M5s will be out?
I am guessing it will be a year after the Gxx 5 series for EU customers, then another year after that for the states? If this is about right, would the earliest Euro Delivery be around summer of 2017 for a MY 2018?

I hope BMW co-develops the M and the non-M for near simultaneous launch like Mercedes does with the AMG models.

I doubt it will stop them. It also wouldn't surprise me if the next 550i exceeds or matches the performance of the current M5 while running a 6 cylinder engine.
I'm wildly speculating but I'm guessing: 550i - 4000 lbs with 460hp as RWD, with optional AWD. M5 - 3800 lbs with 600hp and maybe 100lbs more with optional AWD |

So with the benefit of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic and a smaller block tri turbo V8 (Im thinking 3.6 or 4.0) I think it's doable. Agree on the 8 speed DCT.

The new CTS Vsport is 3600 lbs with a TT V6 and does 0-60 in 4.4. What 700+lbs can do to a car. I can't imagine what the CTS-V will be like, but I'm thinking that it will destroy the current M5 in all performance aspects.

I would think that the next M5 would get a different chassis code like the F80/F82 because I am pretty certain that the chassis of the next M5 will get way more carbon fiber reinforced plastic than the regular 5-Series. Don't know if it would be called G80 though. Maybe they should call it G6 you like that song "Fly like a G6!" Ok bad joke, I know.
