First trip to the dragstrip with my tuned M6 CP

Hey guys I just wanted to share how my M6 CP did on her first trip to the dragstrip . I am more of a road course guy and while I have done a lot of Vbox testing going to the strip and facing the light tree is a much harder thing to do than most realize . At any rate a group of my friends went together to Carolina drag way in Aiken " house of hook " as it was the closest to is with an open test and tune ( I'm in Charleston SC) . The house of hook moniker was certainly an exaggeration as the grip was pretty bad with a very rough surface and several people met the wall during the afternoon . The 4 cars running were a 2013 C63 AMG P51 that was tuned to 500 hp , a bone stock 2014 C7 Z51 manual vette , and supercharged 2013 mustang 5.0 that should be making over 600 hp and my 2014 M6 CP . My M6 has Gruppe M intake , SS catted DP's , M performance exhaust and BMS set to 3.5 psi over stock running on straight 93 octane pump gas and stock 295 PSS. The DA was 2k for the day we ran and judging by all the cars times and mph it was a very slow track . One local said he was running .5 sec and 3mph lower than usual at other tracks .
The results were as follows .
The best run for the C63 AMG was 12.4 @ 114 ( his first time at the strip but we were expecting more trap from the tuned 6.2)
The best for the Mustang 5.0 was 12.8 @ 110 ( he had very high IAT's and obviously we expected more out of it)
The best run for the C7 was 12.2 @ 115.5 ( driver has a lot of experience and was human DCT'ing the shifts )
The first run I tried DSC off sport throttle and really excessively spun first and the car stepped out badly enough on the 1/2 shift that I had to lift significantly . The remainder of runs were in MDM mode sport throttle comfort suspension no LC utilizing copious throttle modulation in first .
I made 5 passes I'm sorry but lost two of the slips . The first run was 12.0 @ 125.8 and the last was 11.6@ 125.6 and here are the rest including my best of 11.45 @ 125.8. I was very happy with consistent sub 2 sec 60fts on street tires on a non ideal track in MDM mode. The car did fantastic and was extremely consistent !

Those 125-6 trap speeds are consistent. Good work there! I need to get out and do the M5 with Vbox again but I have been really busy and just haven't had the time.

I was running my Vbox sport during several of the runs but my Bluetooth interface was messing up so the data didn't come to my iPhone . I'll look at it tonight and let you know what the difference in terminal Vbox speed vs trap was . Given the nature of the end of this track I think it will be at least 2mph , maybe more. Doing the DA correction for temp would put me at a high 11.2 @127 mph on a neutral DA .

good times just need lower DA and car would be moving. Did you lower your tire pressure?

Wow! Great job George! Those are some great times given the circumstances. Getting 60ft time under 2secs on street tires with a RWD car that makes as much torque as yours does is not easy at all.

Good job. why'd you go with the catted dp's as opposed to catless?

No power difference in this application compared to the 200 cell high flow, and I'm tired of catless exhausts, smelling like fuel, fuel residue on the back of the car etc. etc.

So my Vbox terminal speeds on the runs were 2 mph faster so 127.8 . With the rough track and the DA I was essentially 2mph off my best Vbox terminal speed of 130 mph . I think I should be able to get 128 mph on a smooth track with better grip and a good DA.

Nice job! I am sure your trap would go up in better DA and much better ET on a better track.

BTW, I am calculating a 0-60mph of about 3.56s on your best run. What was the vbox 0-60mph with roll-out?

The sport wasn't communicating with my phone and I didn't look at it just pulled up the quarter mile . I'll take a look when I get home tonight . The ET was spot on with the slips , which is no surprise given it's 20hz .

If you bring down the tire pressure to around 24 psi for the rear tires it will help with traction.

Honestly the track was so rough after the 1/8th mile I was worried about going 120mph with the lower pressure might cause the car to pitch at high speeds when it hit the rough pavement. You can see a mustang with wrinkle slicks in one of my pictures that did just that .
