Warning light to inflate tires !!
I cold start the M5 this morning and the warning light comes on that says the tire needs air etc... i do the "reset". It appears to correct the warning light issue... and i checked the tires and they are properly inflated. So is this just a computer random error ? Any thoughts?

What PSI are they at? When you drive, tires heat up, PSI increases. When the car is cold is when you should set them. Check your door sticker for correct PSI depending on how you drive.

A 10 degree change in temp is equal to about a 1psi change in tires. So, as temps drop so will tire pressure.
Resetting the computer just tells it that the current pressure is correct. If they are inflated too low then the computer will now think that is the "normal" pressure.

You should probably check the tire pressure before you do a reset. I actually have a slow leak I need to look into and it loses 10psi in about 3 weeks.

This is one of the many benefits of coding your M5. M cars should give you the ability to know the exact psi at all times. Occasionally, during a cold snap, my PSI may fall to the 'low pressure range' but knowing it's 28 instead of 20 is the difference between 'drop in temperature' and 'have a slow leak from a nail'.
V12 can help you with that.
