Quick heads up when washing.

Hello Chaps,
Just wanted to point out what happened this morning, whilst i was washing the M5. I had the wipers in the park position, and lifted off the windscreen. Whilst i was using the power washer, i i crossed the wipers with the lance, and blew one of the wipers off its arm. It bounced off the bonnet and onto the floor. I feel very lucky that it did not dent, or mark the paintwork, and that i have got away with this one. The wipers will be staying in the park position only from now on, and not off the screen, regards, SIMON.

You're lucky the wiper arm didn't snap back and hit the windshield.
This is not uncommon and often can cause the windshield to crack.
Yeah , much safer to keep them in the down position

Also, if your car is very dirty the high pressure from a power washer can press and roll the dirt scratching your paint job. Prob better to use less pressure. And always wash in the direction the wind flows over your car...front to back. Used to be a BMW detail technician in my youth.

Speaking of wipers, Ive also noticed wen lifting them from the off position, they dont stay up, rather they actually touch the edge of the hood. Lifting them too hard will cause metal to hit metal - design flaw imo. Dont lett gas station attendants wash your windows, guaranteed to chip it.

No flaw there's just a typical BMW trick to it:
