Thumbs up Just Evolved my F10 M5

Hey Guys I just got my f10 M5 tuned remotely by Evolve Automotive (Evolve) it was very easy at Undercover tuning here in SJ. All I needed was a windows based lab top with at least 4 gb of ram and the rest was supplied by Evolve. They sent me a OBD 2 cable and a flash drive with the software so they can remotely tune it. After I got all the software loaded I got a call from tuner and we were on the way. Evolve told me exactly what he was doing as he did it and at times scared me jokingly.( just to mess with me lol). I also got my Dct tuned while the tuner was tuning my car and the whole process took about 45mins-60mins for the whole process . The cool thing was when he was tuning my Dct I could hear the dct readjust as he programed my car.

After the car was tuned for the DME and DCT Evolve told me I had to drive it a little so the car could adapt to the new setting. The first impression I have of the car has a lot of power through out the rpm range and the dct shift so much faster and smoother. My cars exhaust farts are a lot louder ,and almost like when I went from stock exhaust to my turner muffler delete. I have only had it for a few Hr and I will have some dyno info shortly before and after runs. As well as 1/4 times, 60-130 times and races against other high hp cars. I will write a more in-depth review as I get a little more time behind the wheel and gather more data.

Thanks for posting! I look forward to the updates. Did you do any baselines (1/4 mile or 60-130mph times)? I ran an 8.9s 60-130mph time last weekend with just the Supersprint race mufflers and K&N drop-in filters (and literally a full tank of gas).

I have number of 60-130 times for stock m5 with tuner muffler delete and charcoal delete but no 1/4 times stock. The best thing is i can go back to stock whenever i feel like it since i have my stock and after market files on a flash drive. I will post all of result when i have done all of my before and after runs. thanks

Probably the "press file" tune everyone is using (apart from the piggyback tunes from Hartge etc).

Top Speed limiter is removed but no solution for the check engine light yet for catless Dps.

What exactly is the ''press tune'' now? LOL, now we have the press tune and a piggyback but no real tune. Whats the difference between the two?

A piggyback is a separate ECU that taps into the wiring of a number of sensors and modifies the input/output values to trick the ECU to change it's signals to injectors etc. Say that fuel pressure of 5Bar should give a signal of 3V. A piggyback alters that signal to, say 2,5V, so that the ECU believes the fuel pressure is to low and thereby increase fuel pump volatge to increase fuel pressure. That then leads to a situation where you actually have 6Bar fuel pressure when the ECU receives a 3V signal. Higher fuel pressure means more fuel injected. That's a very basic explanation but should hopefulley give an idea of how a piggyback works.

The "press file" is, or is based on, a BMW software file that apparently was used on the press cars supplied to the media... Being a BMW file, the ECU accepts it without shutting down. This is not any manipulation of sensor input/output but a real tune that alters timing, fuel injection, boost etc. The file is loaded in to the ECU and replaces the stock file.

Press cars had between 620-640hp according to German sources.

Hedre is a bit more detailed explanation of piggyback:

Thanks boss. So the piggyback is just higher boost whereas the press tune is kind of a mini tune if anything.

It's not just higher boost. New piggyback units can also change timing by tricking CPS signals. However you are limited when you are dealing piggybacks.
The press file tune isn't a mini tune, it's just a regular tune sourced from the BMW DAMOS file like any other BMW tunes you can get out there. However, since M5's ECU isn't hacked yet you can't write new tables in ECU. All tuners can do is just some tweaks in the map that DAMOS file contains.

@akh23456 what did evolve tune/change in regards to the DCT? What was the end result?

Very interested in hearing details on this.

what i have noticed so far is before when i had Mdm mode on i could just slightly mash the pedal and the back end would just drift out. Now i try to do it and i can take the turn with out drifting it. I also noticed when mashing the pedal off the line i don't get as much wheel spin as i did before. I also feel like the shifts got smoother and slightly faster but i can't prove it just yet till i race another f10. I will get more info on what was exactly done as soon as possible.

If i can find the right spot i will deff try but i had a long weekend racing on friday at MIR and Mpact saturday.I am going by what i was told so don't kill me if i am wrong lol.

Some other things i can tell is the car is deff faster than before. When i was stock with muffler delete i got raped by a Evolved 6.5psi e92 m3, and now i am on his ass the whole time. The funny thing is I raced a Ess 625 or 650 kit i don't know which kit but i beat the Ess car by 1/2 car or 1 car. I'll be posting some videos once i get a chance to edit.
