Mods can move this thread to the other section when necessary. I just wanted more visibility for it for now.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/escort-...look-familiar/

https://www.escortradar.com/max360/

Seems like Escort has upped their game with their new Escort 360. At first the device seems like an upgrade, especially if you already have an Escort system in your car, but in reality I don't think it is worth the price they are asking for.

Pros:

- Good Detector with great range
- Now has Directional Arrows like the V1 that tell you if the Radar is coming from the Front, Sides, or Rear.
- Can connect to the Escort Live system via bluetooth.
- Has GPS to eliminate false alerts.
- Display's the Posted Speed Limit and your current speed on the Display.

Cons:

- No hard line or wireless Remote Display like a V1 can have.
- No VG2 or anti-Radar Detector Detector capability so those stupid Virginia State Troopers can tell if you have the Escort 360 in your car.
- Escort Live is not nearly as useful as Waze.
- Can Only order it direct from Escort's Website. No 3rd Party vendors have it yet.
- Price is high.

Starts shipping the week of October 19th.

Still nothing beats a V1 combined with Laser Jammers and Waze. I have yet to get a ticket in the past 8 years. Not sure where this new Escort 360 would fit it besides having the very nice feature of the GPS false signal elimination.

What do you guys think?

You mean they CAN TELL if you're running an Escort 360

Thanks for posting this up. I'm finding this very interesting.

I didn't want to let go of my V1, but this new model makes it very compelling for me to upgrade. Especially now that this unit also indicates the direction of the threat.

The V1 was state of the art when it came out about 12 years ago, but today, seems like it's behind in features and aesthetics.

I agree - Passport Max 2 was lousy for detection especially up here in Canada on the highways. I ended up swapping for V1 and am happy I did that. The Escort Redline however is brilliant - their best - and I have this too. Escorts pricing model is questionable compared to the competitions.

I agree with you. The Valentine feels dated in both features and looks. Not much has changed inside or out and 12 years is a long time. I used to love the V1 and swear by it. I used to recommend it to everyone as the only radar to buy. Times have changed

My V1's are worthless to me now. I just drove from NJ to Boston and the thing falsed about 90% of the time with bad alerts and just beeped about 50% of the time I was in the car. It's so bad I have to turn off the volume. It just seems to have gotten worse over the last 5 or so years.

Out of frustration, I moved to the Passport Max last year in my M5 and it is so much better, at least for me. Very few false alerts. Picks up the real alerts well in advance. The auto GPS lockout is an awesome feature as is the app which makes it easy to change settings.

I loved the MAX so much I went even bigger on my 458 and put in an Escort 9500ci with jammers and that is a fantastic system. Like the Max it rarely false alerts and the GPS auto-lockout feature is superb. Great engineering and stealth.

After being spoiled with these two great Escort detectors I am finding the Valentines just don't cut it for me at least where I live and drive. The entire way up to Boston and back I was kicking myself for not pulling my Passport Max out of the M5 (we took the X5 to Boston). I am telling you it was essentially useless since it just falses almost all the time.

I think Valentine has been resting on their laurels too much for many years now while Escort seems to be investing alot of its profits back into R&D.

I am ordering the new Passport Max with the arrows (Valentine patent is gone I guess?) and will be putting my Valentine up on ebay and replacing it with this new offering. I do agree it is a bit pricey at over $600 but if it saves me once it was worth it. I'd be spending $400 on a V1 so it is only 250 bucks more. I spent almost 5x this for the 9500ci custom install so it's cheap relatively speaking.

I think this could be the death blow to Valentine unless Mike comes up with some brand new innovation to not just keep up but to push ahead. I hope he does but for now it's more or less the same as its been for many years.

I agree a lot with what you said.

I think patents last for about 17 years. I heard that somewhere.

I have always programmed my V1 to not even detect X-Band. X-Band is almost everywhere and it really makes the detector go off a lot. I still find the system very good and whenever I detect KA-Band I'm on the brakes hard. There have only been two instances where the V1 couldn't detect in time. Both situations the cops were hidden extremely well. One was behind a steep hill and the other was hiding behind a construction sign. Both times the detector went off but I was caught off guard because I couldn't determine fast enough where exactly they were hidden.

Most of the time Waze is more useful these days though. I once saw this joker up ahead trying laser people on my Waze way before I reached him. I drive by that guy and just laughed. Waze is so accurate it's almost too good. Although I have already seen VA State Troopers play games on Waze and remove their locations when they get tagged.

This is something i might be interested in. Considered doing the full 9500ci custom install but i rather spend that money elsewhere! BTW Waze is the best thing ever! Esp now that NYC has these new speed trap cameras all over that send the ticket in the mail for going over 30mph. I did 41 in a 30MPH zone (which is painfully slow i might add) and got the $50 ticket in the mail
Waze even detects these speed traps too

Ever since you mentioned it to me on the way back from our CT drive, I've been running it since.

FYI -- Patents now last for 20 years from their filing date. They used to last, back in 1995, 17 years from the date the patent was granted. Design patents last 14 years from their grant date.

The patent for the arrows expired in 2012.

For those having issues with blind spot monitoring and other nannies on other vehicles setting your V1 off upgrade to the latest V1 software. I just sold my old unit and purchased a new one with the TMF2/Junk K-Band filter and it is a night and day difference! This filter is much better than what comes with the Escort radars especially on the Redline. Confirmed also over by the guys on the radar forums.

My cost to upgrade my old one was $289 plus shipping. Valentine would have pulled a new unit off their production line to send back. I figured with that amount I might as well sell my old one on Craigslist and use the proceeds to buy a brand new unit which is what I did. I was only out of pocket about $130 after all was said and done.

Also hold off on purchasing the Max360. I would recommend those interested to stay tuned to the Escort sub forum on the rdforums for independent testing. The new Max360 might not be all it is hyped up to be.

I wouldn't touch a V1 with a barge pole. It's totally outdated and not very good. Plus it is detectable.

In my opinion there are only three options worth considering:
1) Platinum option: Stinger VIP full setup from and rear radar and 4 laser heads which included arrows too
2) Gold option: Stinger VIP with front radar antenna only and Antilaser Priority Quad
3) Silver option: Bel STIR+ with Antilaser Priority quad
4) Bronze option: Escort 360 with Antilaser Priority quad

If you have a V1 and Laser Interceptor you basically have a Walmart special!

As a navy man I think you would appreciate the multipolar patch antenna on the Stinger.

Also V1 is working on an all new platform which should have some up to date features but no one knows when it will be out.

So if i get this Max 360 i can still have laser jammers too? Do i need a separate unit inside the car for that too?

I think that Escort bought Laser Interceptor and there is no longer a stand alone unit.

Which brings up my next question. If you have the new escort 9500 with LI built in, is there a way to turn off the jammers once you have been hit by laser a nd have slowed down?

Im definitely going to pull the trigger, Waze has saved me a million times but im assuming the cops are starting to get hip to that too and it doesnt save you from the moving threat. Small investment considering the type of cars we drive!

Turn off the whole thing - press the power button. That's the only way. Unlike the ALP, LI never put a pause button with configurable duration on their system and so Escort did inherit that setup.

You can buy the LI standalone from Escort.
https://www.escortradar.com/lasershifterpro/

But right now I think ALP and Stinger can jam the most guns, LI/Escort jams most guns but some rare ones they miss.

I love using Waze, I never even considered they'd be so proactive in doing that!! Writing tech support at Waze is useless unfortunately as I'd love if they could delete the "Passenger" typing nanny and now the manual thumbs down vs just letting things fall off based on them expiring.

Escort did not buy Laser Interceptor. They contacted LI to buy their technology for the old gen laser heads. They discontinued the old ZR4 jammers as a result. The jammers Escort now puts out are actually the previous gen LI heads.

If you are getting jammed with laser on your 9500ci press the mute button two times and it will disable jamming temporarily. I believe it is two times.. it has been awhile since I've been jammed in my car with the 9500ci, but the feature is there.

I am kicking myself for not installing the laser / radar detector and jammer in my car yet. Been insanely busy at work and when I'm home for a little bit, spending time with the family. The installer said I have to leave the car over for a few days during the week and I just don't have the time during week to do it unless I take a day off which is crazy.

This thing doesn't have the jammer but is it the best laser / radar detector on market? I am pussyfooting the car right now scared shit that cop can be anywhere. Will gladly spend the 650 if this thing is the best detector on the market...
