Clicking Noise under load in turns...

Hey all,

I realize there is another thread regarding this issue that dates back several years, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any recent experience with this?

I've tracked my car several times, and it seems to be worse after those days. I mentioned the possibility of wheel hub, replacement/repacking the grease, to my service adviser, but he said he couldn't find any information regarding ticking hubs, or any advisory to do anything specific if the customer complains about this.

Any insight from any individuals who have any experience with this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely make sure you check the wheel nuts are as tight as they should be!

drbru, the wheel lugs were definitely tight, I checked them before going on track, and several times throughout the day, and they never seemed to loosen up. Mind you, I wasn't quite sure what lug torque specs to go with, since there seem to be loads of different figures ranging between 88lb/ft - 103lb/ft. I believe I went somewhere in the 100lb/ft range.

AGS, that could prove to be immensely helpful! Thank you for posting that! I'm going to email a copy of this to Dinan, since it's down there now for inspection of brake work they did before track day, and a few noises that have popped up which seem related to brakes. I'll also print/save a copy for my own records to show my service adviser when I bring it in for it's next service, coming up here soon.

The correct torque per BMW is 103 lb/ft.

Thanks, again, AGS! Just saw something somewhere that it's 140Nm, which converts to just over 103lb/ft, so maybe I'll have to go back over all the lugs again when I get my car back.
